Wonderful shaves, Neal! Ozark Mountain is a favorite scent of mine. That travel razor is really cool.

Mmmm....Iced Pineapple! Another top notch scent from Stirling. I've not had good success with Treet blades, either. I just stick with GEM PTFE at this point. All of the carbon blades haven't done well for me.

    Good morning, good morning everyone!!
No pictures today or yesterday because I'm modifying a razor.
The PAA Starling V2 is a razor that just didn't work for me. But, I think if I can stop the drag from the razor head or top cap as it's called, it will be a good razor. I knew the moment I laid a tool on the top I could not send the razor back and had no intentions of doing so. So, I don't want others to try this thinking they can return the razor if they mess it up.
I also want to say right now this razor may work for others the way it came from the factory, so it may be a good design for some, but not so for me.
I have bought quite a few razors from PAA and love them all, so this is not a dig at the company at all. I actually bought 2 Bakelite razors of the same type from them in case I drop and break one. I also have many other razors of their design and have no reason to part with them because they do shave quite nicely. I like trying new razors, new designs and new things, so I love what they are doing.

This morning shave was actually better then yesterday or the day before with the Starling. I have done some work to relieve the surface tension or vacuum that happens when dragging the top cap cross the face. I also noticed that unlike any other razor that I have in my collection the top cap is concave instead of bubble up or other words it's a dimple not a pimple. This may cause the surface tension or drag. After relieving some of the surface tension or vacuum from the top cap I got an acceptable shave. In my opinion this razor is very gentle, one of the most gentle razors I own.
I will be modifying it again slightly to see if I can lower the drag even more. It still has too much drag for a proper head shave, so I used my Gem G bar for that part of the job.

I finished off a tub of PAA atomic Bay Rum, but have two other tubs of it because I like it so much.

    That's where I'm at....
    Enjoy

    Thanks guys.

Clint, I hope you are seeing improvements with your elbow from your PT. I'm at the PT office with my Bride now. She's having some issues with her back, but it is slowly improving.

@PLAla...short sleeves here today too. This is winter the way it ought to be. :)

Well I have two shaves in on Favourites February so far: Sunday and today.

    Sunday evening February 3

    Rockwell 6s on plate 4 / Voskhod (1)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood Tuxedo brush
    Arko shave stick
    Alum and Lucky Tiger

    Tuesday morning February 5

    Rockwell 6s on plate 4 /Voskhod (2)
Semogue Owners Club cherrywood Tuxedo brush
    Palmolive stick
    Alum and Stirling Barbershop splash

The nice thing about favourites is they work the way they are supposed to. Arko and Palmolive are commercial soaps with none of the "artisan" pizzazz, but they smell okay, lather easily, and provide decent shave performance, which is all that is needed really. And at their prices they have to be the best bargains in the shaving soap world.

Two good shaves. End of story.

Now out to shovel about three inches of snow off my walks and driveway -- in -30 Celsius, with a wind. You guys and your short sleeve weather... I actually dug out my long underwear today...

Knowing PAA as I do(well, I don't KNOW them, y'know), they'll probably come out with a 3rd Bay Rum A.S. one of these days

    Thank you, Perry!
Satsuma is a fun scent. It reminds me of sweet tarts.

Well, a very excellent shave with the Razorock 3x milled Lime Burst this morning. Might return to it on Friday, as we'll see another 50's day. I had the 24 mm Maggard, and as I began I thought it would be too big for the 3.5 oz. puck. No, it got in there all right. I'm ready for the day ahead.

The simple was the one prior to Atomic, right Terry?
