Superlative shave today. I love this scent and the lather is top notch. Honey skin helps my rosacea and feels great.

  6. Great shot and shave. I agree about the temps here in TX, although it's too early for me. I don't look forward to Summer at all.

    Jayaruh #326
    Micromatic Open Comb
    Gem Blue Star CS SE

    Barbasol Brisk AS

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #326 synthetic horse brush. I did two passes with the Micromatic Open Comb razor with a Gem Blue Star CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Barbasol Brisk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

RazoRock 400 Noir Plissoft Synthetic Shaving Brush
    Halleluiah Pottery Shaving Bowl 1995
    Williams Mug Soap
    CVS SE Blade
Ever-Ready Shovelhead on a Weber Bulldog Handle
    Pinuad Clubman Classic

Third test run of the shovelhead this morning.

Dampened the RazoRock brush and swirled a little Williams on the bristles and then created some awesome lather in the Halleluiah Pottery shaving bowl. To work up the Williams I use a larger bowl than the Salsa bowl. It does take longer to whip up the Williams but is does great in the larger bowl.

No weepers or nicks. Just a nice comfortable shave with very little alum burn. I completed two passes and cleaned up a few areas on the neck.

Finished up with some Clubman classic.

I am really getting into the shovelhead and the SE shaves. I may break out one of the Feather Weights next.

Y'all take care and have a great hump day!

  16. Today's shave was long overdue although I have n excuse as I have been ill with Bronchitis and mostly lying on the sofa feeling sorry for myself and coughing hard. I had about 7 days growth so it is time AND a nice shave always makes you feel good no? So I set myself up as follows

Razor: Drew Dick 9/8” In Black Acrylic scales
    Soap: Crows Nest Murky Waters
    Bowl: Van Yulay blue resin
    Pre-shape: Proraso White
Aftershave: Clinique Extreme moisturiser and St. Johns Bay Rum to follow

The shave was awesome - watch the video as it says more than I can ever write. Needless to say I ended up with a DFS and a great fragrance all round.

The one thing I do want to point out specifically is the soap: Crows Nest Murky Waters. This is a soap I picked up very luckily by being online and in a FB shave group at the very moment that the man that makes it started taking orders for a new batch. I think he said he had only 30 of each soap on hand and I snapped up two - Murky waters and Tortuga. That was more than a year ago and I have not seen a batch sold since - he does have a website - crowsnestshaving.com so you might try e-mailing the guy and urge him to start making again. The soap lather easily, is rich and stable. Just look at my pictures and in the video. The fragrance notes are:

“A situation or circumstance that is foreign, unclear, and unfamiliar and altogether dangerous as a result.

Swirling together in a dark pool are tones star anise, cinnamon, wood, and amber.”

It is a very simple combo but my oh my does it work. Spicy but not too much, woody, but not too much - it just works. I am after a Jack Daw soap too in order to complete my trio of Crows nest soaps and I emailed the guy yesterday - no answer yet!!!

Anyway dudes happy shaving - Steve.

  18. That does it! I cringe by having my meager shave pics be shamed by the likes of you Ezra Cobb! No sir. I give. Uncle. Unconditional surrender. White flag hanging in my shave den. You show no mercy to us undeserving shaving peons. The bar is set so high as to be unobtainable. Why don't you just enjoy your shaves in private and stop this relentless pixel bludgeoning? Have a heart!

Amazing stuff ya got there.....keep the pics coming! :happy096:

Well, I couldn't resist wasting some lather this morning so off the Barbasol for a while and back to my creams.
