That sounds like the Schick B1. Outstanding razor but the angle is wonky.

Second go with the Starling. This time with the solid bar. I really really want to hate this razor. I really really can't. I am not going to change my mind about modern SE razors.... but this was a veddy nice gift.

Tabac with a vie long horse brush.

I won a few razors from the bay a few days ago. I ordered blades same day. Plus another feather weight
    Razors showed up Monday.
    No blades, no ETA.

Found a few local Walgreens with gem razors on line.
Site stated 2-5 packages in store.
Went to 2 of them today......
    No razors.:( ( frustrated)

    Trying to be patient
Like any kid, inpatient to play with new toys

I’ll post better pictures when I have time to take them myself

For me the Starling Shaves better than a Sabre L1 & the ATT SE-G. I acquired mine because I was curious, my initial impressions are that it does not shave as well as a lot of my Vintage SE Razors.

Wed 6th Feb - Williams Wednesday

    Omega 11126 Boar
    Williams Mug Soap
    Ever Ready Natural Angle [ HFT }
    Gem S/S [ 1 ]
    Williams Acqua Velva A/S Lotion.

Yesterday I had a Shave with a Starling SE, when I likened it to Shaving with an OCMM [ in terms of feel ], but delivering the type of finish that with my heavy beard I get with a HFT.
Today I used the British version of the HFT, an Ever Ready Natural Angle. The Shave was very smooth and comfortable and finish wise similar to that of yesterday, a very good going to work Shave. I do in fact with my heavy beard get better Shaves with some of my other Vintage SE Razors, which I use when I need a special occasion Shave.
If you do decide try out the Starling do not expect it to be any better than any Vintage SE Razor. Though in its defence I must say it [ for me ] delivers better shaves than both the Sabre L1 and the ATT SE-G [ which I own].

    Barbasol Brisk AS

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Williams Mug Shaving Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #326 synthetic horse brush. I did two passes with the Micromatic Open Comb razor with a Gem Blue Star CS SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Barbasol Brisk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

i got the original starling with the 2 plates - the normal plat was MUCH TOO MILD - the beta plate was more agressive but the exposed corners gave me a cat scratch cheek - used it twice and it is collecting dust now - so did u use the new plates? i hear the new plates are good...

Also - Rite Aid carries carbon store brand blades - Walgreens disconinuted the GEM blades - they will never sell SE blades again - i assume CVS and rite aid are next - even thought they have store brand blades - there great blades - but really - u can get them online CHEAPER - just sad when the day comes u cant get SE blades at a drug store

I wonder if @Bird Lives thought this thread would reach 1,217 PAGES when he started this thread? Also - i think this thread has rejuvenated Injector Razor Love!!
    Here is some injector love

Vintage Injector Razor & Blades. Used my new big Ol' OMEGA BOAR - just a kick ass 12 dollar brush that I cannot put down, no desire to touch any synthetics ( i am a boar guy and use synths occasionally & especially with creams )

    Hi Jamie,
I have the V2 model , and it deals quite well with my tough beard, though does not shave as well as the likes of Streamline or 1924.

i gotta get a V2 plate - the original plates were just terrible for me.... in fact - if anybody wants the rare V1 version with 2 plates (includes the BETA / TEST plate) send me a message

RazoRock 400 Noir Plissoft Synthetic Shaving Brush
    Halleluiah Pottery Shaving Bowl 1995
    Williams Mug Soap
    CVS SE Blade
Ever-Ready Shovelhead on a Weber Bulldog Handle
    Pinuad Clubman Classic

Third test run of the shovelhead this morning.

Dampened the RazoRock brush and swirled a little Williams on the bristles and then created some awesome lather in the Halleluiah Pottery shaving bowl. To work up the Williams I use a larger bowl than the Salsa bowl. It does take longer to whip up the Williams but is does great in the larger bowl.

No weepers or nicks. Just a nice comfortable shave with very little alum burn. I completed two passes and cleaned up a few areas on the neck.

Finished up with some Clubman classic.

I am really getting into the shovelhead and the SE shaves. I may break out one of the Feather Weights next.

Y'all take care and have a great day hump day!
