You can never go wrong with "Grandma's Purse", Andrew! It never disappoints with the lather! It's one soap that will always be in the "den".

Great setup Joseph, the myrsol does give a great post shave feel. Use a steel block for an anvil and a 4 oz ball peen hammer and tap lightly while rolling the pin to keep the peen evenly domed. This also helps keep the blade centered in the scales. Glen and lynn also have good demonstration videos on this too.

Guys, thanks for the kind words. The Soap Commander is definitely on the ropes now. I transferred the remaining bits into a different container for easier brush loading. I'm using the SC container for C.O. Bigelow shave cream. Plastic containers stack and store better than those metal tubes. Mineral oil quickly dissolves pesky label adhesive from old shave soap containers if you want to re-use them.

Jason, I think you will enjoy Terre d’Hermès if you decide to take the plunge. I picked up a container of the parfum in a duty free shop at a discount. It was pricey, but it lasts a long time. I've had mine for more than three years, and I wear it routinely. More information here if you're interested. I'm currently using up a bottle of (just OK) cologne that I will eventually replace with Creed Aventus. My colognes in rotation will then be Aramis, TDH, and Aventus. These three are, by far, my favorites of all the colognes I've tried. (I've tried a few different store samples over the years, but I keep coming back to these three.) Each scent is distinctly different, and that will provide me with plenty of variety. I defer to the cologne expertise of @Keithmax. I'm just a hillbilly hipster that knows what I like. :)

Randy, I'm not impressed with most current comics. I rely on reruns of Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side to get my kicks. I never got into Bloom County, but it always looked somewhat interesting. Favorites growing up were Archie, Dennis the Menace, and Peanuts. I never got into the superhero comics...always went for the comedy and lighter reads.

The American Society for Quality runs some doosies in the monthly membership mag. If you "get" these cartoons, seek professional help immediately.

Best reason ever to skip a shave.
    Sight seeing or spear fishing?
    Take some photos!

Use caution on original finish gold. It may have a clear lacquer over very thin gold wash. On vintage nickel an old tooth brush and Dawn at blade changes keeps mine shiny and clean. Sometimes I'll open up TTO or 3pc DE's and rinse off gunk from the blades because I prefer cool water shaves.

Joseph - I forget if I've asked - is that an original knot or a replacement? It looks somewhat bulb shaped. Flat top replacement boar knots are hard to find.

So nice you liked it twice! Thanks Clint, I gave you two Likes also. I'd rather see lots of duplicate post than no traffic.

Thanks Patrick! AV-IB isn't my favorite AS but Williams recommends it so I bowed to the advertising pressure. Modern Williams has a pleasant Ivory Soap scent but I want my soap to POP!

Andrew, there's a slight blueish tinge to the mixture. I left it covered last night, but now it's open to allow evaporation. The puck has a soft waxy consistency when grating.
