Guys, thanks for the kind words. The Soap Commander is definitely on the ropes now. I transferred the remaining bits into a different container for easier brush loading. I'm using the SC container for C.O. Bigelow shave cream. Plastic containers stack and store better than those metal tubes. Mineral oil quickly dissolves pesky label adhesive from old shave soap containers if you want to re-use them.

Jason, I think you will enjoy Terre d’Hermès if you decide to take the plunge. I picked up a container of the parfum in a duty free shop at a discount. It was pricey, but it lasts a long time. I've had mine for more than three years, and I wear it routinely. More information here if you're interested. I'm currently using up a bottle of (just OK) cologne that I will eventually replace with Creed Aventus. My colognes in rotation will then be Aramis, TDH, and Aventus. These three are, by far, my favorites of all the colognes I've tried. (I've tried a few different store samples over the years, but I keep coming back to these three.) Each scent is distinctly different, and that will provide me with plenty of variety. I defer to the cologne expertise of @Keithmax. I'm just a hillbilly hipster that knows what I like.

Randy, I'm not impressed with most current comics. I rely on reruns of Calvin and Hobbes and The Far Side to get my kicks. I never got into Bloom County, but it always looked somewhat interesting. Favorites growing up were Archie, Dennis the Menace, and Peanuts. I never got into the superhero comics...always went for the comedy and lighter reads.

The American Society for Quality runs some doosies in the monthly membership mag. If you "get" these cartoons, seek professional help immediately.

Bloom County was and is still my favorite. But, I love biting political humor as well as the other social commentary he is so adept at. He revived the strip on Facebook a few years ago and I haven't kept up quite as well but still love it. Of course, my CT is tied to Bloom County as well so there you go.

Pre de Provence no 63 is another soap that I've loved for a long time, but wasn't sure if that would change with a straight. I'm happy to say that it did not. Still awesome. I'll keep buying it as long as they keep making it.

The brush is an AP Shave Co faux horsehair, in a no-name handle that set me back $5.49 shipped from China. It's been a fantastic brush for me. I really, really like that faux horsehair knot.

Did my usual three with the straight, and the single ring again to finish. One small nicklet under the nose, barely bled. Otherwise a first-rate shave.

I will be traveling carry on. For the shaving kit I’m going really simple, Speick cream, synthetic brush and Feather Neo cartridge razor.

View attachment 185968 Try as I might I couldn't get this cream to "lather" in the bowl. It wasn't for lack of product so I'm guessing the brush knot was holding & hoarding. I ought to schedule a boar or synth shave to check that option. Once applied to my beard it gave every impression of a lather and with a little more water fluffed up a bit. Not at all like a Soap but Cremo products don't otherwise claim to be lathering. Slick? Yes. Great residual. Scent is very close to the straight up sandalwood of the Proraso Red AS. Good feels from the Mellon head and I don't think I need to go handle shopping. The Gillette Bar handle John @John Ruschmeyer sent fits the threads and I like the balance and knurling. It's even got most of the nickle plating which is more than my other Bar handle on the NEW LC can claim. The blade exposure looks scary as the cap doesn't cover the edges but I've made my peace with aggressive DE's. Ride the cap, light pressure, make shaving faces = TTT. Nice no error reduction with no detectable remaining stubble. DFS+ / IBSS / NBBS ... happy with my results. Post shave hydration felt decent and a splash of Red kept the woodiness going.

Happy Friday everyone. I am so ready for the weekend. I found out that Supply Co offers warehouse deals on items that are not perfect. So I decided to take a chance on a Matte Black razor in the deals section. I was pleasantly surprised that the razor is near perfect. Being very picky, the plate is not exactly the same color as the handle. It is very close but not perfect. I have no complaints given the difference in price. Since the razor arrived yesterday, I rushed to get a photo and put into rotation right away. For February favorites, I just had to pull on the SV Felce Aromatica. This scent is my favorite fougere scent. Face lathering the SV soap with the Thäter 3 band is pure luxury with the wonderful scent and the softness of the brush. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. A splash of the matching aftershave left me clean shaven and smelling fabulous. I hope everyone has a great Friday.
