merkur progress /parker variant are similar but adjustable..

 

The lather channel was not uncommon among many European razors of the period, it's the guard plate shape that's distinctive. The Merkur/Variant is just a fairly narrow flat plate. And of course the Progress/Variant isn't a modern design in any event (1955).

 

i was thinking of the lather channels to be honest.my knowledge of any razor non gillette is pretty limited..

Well. I ordered my first new shaving gear of the year, I really love the RazoRock Caribbean soap, it's called something else,I've forgotten. Well I bought the matching aftershave, it's a new item.
I also picked up the new RR brush, Amici? It's the 20mm knot.

 

Nice! I noticed that RR changes the names of their soaps. I wonder why that is?

 

i would think to keep it new and fresh ,or they would have to register /trademark/license it maybe?,or they change the recipe a little..i think xxx has changed formulations a few times..just guesses..remarketing old scents with subtle changes..

Since I've decided to start shaving again and since my birthday is in a week and a half I've decided to treat myself to a new razor. I have incoming an ATT SE2. I can't wait to give it a try.

Waiting for someone to buy the Calypso Razor I gave for sale...

 

Biette. I can find no information at all about this French razor...but it did cost less than the Wolfman it resembles.
