Great photo, Jim! That scent is one I'm thinking about buying. What do you think of it?

I'm guessing my grandpa's were the same. Sadly I'll never know. My dad mostly used electric razors and shaved because it was something that had to be done.

Good afternoon! I just finished my late morning shave. In keeping with my "first" theme, I decided to use my 6/8 Ralf Aust Spanish point with boccate wood scales. It was my first straight that I bought off EBay, my first pre-owned razor, my first 6/8 razor, my first Spanish point and my first Ralf Aust. Ok, let me get on with my shave review. I continued to use the Stirling Sandalwood sample size and I must say it is a pleasant scent. I brought out my Rockwell synthetic brush. This brush really lathers my soaps well.
I did two passes and minor touch-ups. Gave myself a tiny nick on my neck, no biggie, but I ended with a IBBS +. Old Spice AS to finish.

My wife will be returning later this evening. So I have been busy putting the finishing touches on the cleaning the house. Of course, she already scheduled a maid to come in on Tuesday. I guess that gives an idea on her faith in my house keeping abilities. The shave this morning was very relaxing. The Paladin felt wonderful while face lathering the MdC Vetyver. The earthy smokey scent is intoxicating. Three passes and touch ups ended just short of a perfect shave. Now I am off to buy some groceries. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

    Hello every one!
Sunday shave and Oh what a shave it was.
Using my newly modified Starling V2, that is a very close shaver, now.
I used epoxy to raise the face of the top cap then used a key file to rough in a working shape.
I sanded the top cap with first 400 grit wet sand paper to straighten up the small issues with the epoxy. Then I used 1500 grit to smooth it all out.
There are still pin holes, but nothing I'm gonna worry about, this isn't body work for looks. Then I sprayed it with some clear coat in hope in keeping it from corroding.
You can see two different gray colors because of two different aplications of epoxy.
It's still ugly, but the thing works great for me now.
Only raised it 1/32 of an inch or so, but what a difference it made.

Now when shaving with it I keep trying to use it like its a mild razor, but it isn't like that at all. I can ride the cap well now, so that's not an issue.
Got two weepers on the neck due to carelessness on my part.
A 2 pass shave high and low gave me a great shave on the head and face. Looks like I'm gonna have to focus this guy for a while.
Guess I have a one of a kind razor, that's kinda neat.
    Enjoy

@clint64, It is amazing that the western TV show Gunsmoke had a character named Palladin. Therefore, your soap had to have a smoky scent. Sounds like you had a terrific shave, Clint!

Thank you, Perry! It is my second favorite Stirling scent behind Haverford. It has some nice citrus up front with a woody and floral base. Really nice.
