    Today there was only enough GD Ambrosia in the tin to get the bristles soapy, so I have officially dispensed with the first 1 oz or bigger sample in 2019. I'm halfway to last year's record and it's only January. I know, impressive, right. This allowed me to move my SV Tundra Arctica from the bullpen into the soaps in the cabinet. My recent venture into blooming triple milled soaps has given it new life. Could I get it to lather without blooming it? Of course. Was the time and effort worth passing up other soaps in the den? Nope. My next 1 oz. victim - Oleo Montrose Beach. It's a good soap, but my collection of "best soaps" is tightening up quite a bit, and it should only take me about 30+ years to use up the rest of my soaps. I'm going with the 1 0z samples first in order to give myself the impression that I'm making progress.

    Thanks Patrick! It may just grow on me. I have a couple of other soaps I wasn't sure about at first but now I enjoy them.

    I almost forgot how many SR shaves I have under my belt. I had to go back and search.
    22...starting my 4th week of straight shaving.
    Shall we recap :signs002:
    (As if you all had a choice) ;)
    Stropping the blade did more damage to the razor and the strop than help.

    Finding the right grip was awkward.

    Finding the angle was not intuitive.
    Skin stretching did not come naturally. (Still doesn't)
    Honing? What's a hone?
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Fast forward 22 shaves.
    Stropping has improved immensely. Battle scars on my strop, for sure, but they are scabbing over.
    Grip has settled down. Seems more natural and I know what grip to use depending on where I am on my face.
    Angle was the easiest to conquer. It's like tuning in an old dial radio. You can hear when the station is clear.
    Skin stretching. OK, I do it under the 'burns and down the cheeks. I don't do it enough on the neck
    and that may be why the BBS is eluding me.
    Honing is a lot of fun. I haven't braved the 1K yet, but it'll come. AND, I have heard so many conflicting
    stories on "tape" I am still confused.:shocked029:
    Today, I chose the Detroit again. It's a professionally honed razor.
    The Jabonman really disappointed me today. Waaaaayyy tooo airy. It's one of my oldest soaps and the texture
    has become rather gritty. I am tossing around binning it. I'll give it one more chance.
    The M&F did what it could under the circumstances, but was hamstrung by the soap.
    Still, I managed to get a DFS shave without any blood-letting.
    I didn't push the ATG envelope.
    Stirling unscented glacial, mixed with a few drops of vetiver EO and I am off to help my son paint.
    Weekends are entirely too short. At least the work week will be shorter since I am going to visit Asha. Everything just worked well together this morning. Three passes and touch ups ended with the baby in hand. However, operator error led to a couple of weepers. A splash of the Fine Santal and I am ready for a productive work day. I hope everyone has a great Monday.
    RazoRock 400 Noir Plissoft Synthetic Shaving Brush
    Halleluiah Pottery Shaving Bowl 1995
    Williams Mug Soap
    CVS SE Blade – 6th shave
    Gem 1912 on a Weber Bulldog Handle
    Nivea Post Balm
    Pinuad Clubman Classic
    This is my 6th SE shave for February and I decided to break out the 1912 Gem. Dampened the RazoRock brush and swirled a little Williams on the bristles and then created some great lather in the Halleluiah Pottery shaving bowl.
    Nice comfortable shave with slight alum burn in a couple of spots. I completed two passes and cleaned up a few areas on the neck. The 1912 is s great shaver.
    Finished up with some Nivea and Clubman classic.
    Y'all take care and have a great Monday!
    Except for dropping my shave soap puck onto the floor, I had a real good shave with the Wet Shaving Products Mahogony. I actually saw some suds after the loading. I sure hope to see the same suds tomorrow for my repeat of WSP. I expect to have this one around throughout the year.
    Dropping a puck here in Canada would result in a hockey game breaking out eh!
    Thanks Charlie. Oldie but a goodie just like so many things around here ;)
    Thank you Perry! We are a diverse and interesting group.
    Thank you Clint! Now that I think about it, it's Doug @Douglas Carey that's the Old Spice Guy.
    Hey Doug! At your leisure, Gary @brit and I wonder how you feel about the variations of Shulton Old Spice products. Besides The Original, what are your thoughts on Lime, Burley, & Leather? Did I miss any?
    Ah yes :). I'll think about that this summer, as I expect to get a mentholated soap puck in the hopes of turning my face into ice.
