Great shave report Joe. Congrats on using your entire shave gear during a month. I need to try that at some point.

Powerful Forces thwarting my attempt to shave every day. Getting great reduction when I do makes it all OK. I enjoyed the Gentleman on my last lather so I did it again, but tried a different aftershave product. The Whipped Dog High Mountain badger talk had me looking at mine. I could sink the knot another 5/16" into the ferrule giving a loft of 46mm. Being a scritchy boar brush fan it's a project that will happen. Still got an easy load from the old ceramic OS mug & plenty of lather though I squeezed the knot for the last pass. This Double Open Comb is an interesting beast. It looks fierce, but feels deceptively mild while shaving. Still it gives a very close reduction like an aggressive razor. No errors tonight and generally an all over DFS result. Finished with Indiana Jones's aftershave. Side by side with the Gentleman soap I can spot the tobacco.
    Good Shaves Y'all!

Thanks Clint. My shave gear is not as extensive as most of the fellas on this site, so it is quite easy to do so. What I learned from doing it was how to change technique every day because each razor shaves differently. Going from DE to straight to DE etc. can mess with one's technique, but I found out that I was quite fluid in doing so. Although I consider myself competent in straight shaving, I know that I am learning every day. In fact, I have recently added an upside down back-hand grip to attack my stubborn spots. Straight razor shaving is truly an art and is not for the timid. We boldly go where most men will never will.

    Razor - Fatip Piccolo
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Stirling Bonaparte
    Brush - 30 DC LE
    Post - Alum

Tuesday night which means it's head shave night before the main event. I skipped the head shave last week so it set up for a pain stick head shave. I used the Kai Captain razor with a Feather Pro blade and the VDH Scented Luxury soap with the VDH Boar brush. I finished up the VDH Deluxe two weeks ago, so my goal now is to finish up this nearly new puck of Luxury on head shaves. VDH is a great value priced soap and I have preferred the Deluxe to the Luxury. Tonight made me aware of that as I found the lather to be a bit less slick than the Deluxe normally produced. Still, I managed the head shave with no blood or other issues and the pain stick performed flawlessly.

Once that was done I went back to the Fatip and Voskhod for the regular shave. The 30 DC LE brush made an outstanding lather of the Stirling Bonaparte, and the "veg-like" scent was a very nice touch. I was chosen by the Veg, after all. The Fatip made short work of two passes and some touch up and a BBS was the result. The alum provided pinpoint accuracy on a couple of spots on my neck where I got a little heavey handed, but nothing leaked out so all's well. Great shave to follow up the head shave.

My Monday approaches way too soon. Hope you had a great Tuesday and have a better Wednesday!

I am curious about the Bonaparte soap, Neal. I have a tub of Mystic Water Lilac, which pairs well with the Veg. How does the Stirling differ from a basic lilac soap? Is it a really close dupe of the Pinaud?

    Letter S

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: PAL Adjustable
    Brush: Stirling Kong synthetic
    Soap: Stirling Sandpiper
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Sandpiper aftershave

Letter S continues with Stirling Sandpiper. Wonderful scent, easy lather, and great results in the end. I moved the PAL down to the L setting and still got a wonderful shave. I'll move it up almost to the H for tomorrow to see what happens. Still playing around with the angle but the shaves with it are coming along nicely.

    Have a great day!

Thank you, Perry! Same to you my friend. I'm curious to hear your report tomorrow with the razor at the higher setting. Sounds like you have it figured out so I'm pretty sure it will be drama free.
I'll finish my alphabetical EDSIO on Friday. It's been fun watching your progression through your soaps.
