Those Dbl Duck brushes must be fairly thin metal. Everyone I've seen photos of has a well loved look.
Nah. Eurasian Badgers are cute, North American however, I could have a stuffed one. Sent from my Nokia 6.1 using Tapatalk
Today's non-haul includes a Colgate shaving stick tin, a no-name brush, a fairly ratty Gillette blade bank. And a sign that I loved, but Sra. Hutchinson probably wouldn't see the humor in it. I may yet grab the brush. My NB19 is really only aimed at software...
Rescued from the outhouse? There's a nice selection of straight razors. But I did not see any safety razors?
Passed on a used Merkur 37C. It was a 2 piece slant & part of a lot that included several tucks of Merkur DE blades and some AOS products. They are still available new, I didn't really need it, and I bailed when my bid was immediately trounced by who ever else wanted it more than me.
The 400 got me all excited for a moment. Then I saw the price was right up there with ebay. Only $18 for the strop but it was not in very good shape.
I've owned both a Rubberset 400 & two different replicas. The original vintage brushes are nice, but I prefer the solid heft of the new billet carved to the old cast aluminum. If you are shopping and don't mind the new ones it's usually an option to get a couple extra ferrules. That lets you hot swap knots! I don't think any of the plastic replicas have threaded ferrules that can be unscrewed, but it's an inexpensive way to see if you like the ergonomics of the handle profile. That Surrey soap and mug - they were the parent company that became Van Der Hagen? By now VDH may have been gobbled up by someone else.
Interesting contraption. I guess the leather is on a round disk that turns with the crank? Fairly tiny, 20mm or less. And the wood is dried and shrunken, so the ferrule is loose. A "Fiancee" brand talc tin.
Well, I bid on this little beauty today, but it wound up going for more than I was willing to pay. It does look like a very nice example of a Gillette Tuckaway that hasn't seen much use. I'll keep looking.

Almost bought this guy, but I thought better of it. I'm still waiting to put a knot in a Grizzly Bay handle I bought 3 weeks ago. Sent from my Galaxy using Tapatalk
