Paul, we dropped in on the painters the other day, and they had some tunes playing. Same with the low voltage wiring installer a few weeks ago. I noticed the trim carpenter wearing head phones yesterday, and I assume he was listening to music.

I mentioned my two guitars to the gentleman planning our closet shelving installation today. I want to make sure I have a good spot to store them. He is learning to play, so we talked about guitars for awhile. He even showed me some photos of his guitars.

    It's all good. :)

Doug, congrats on a fantastic shave and a wonderful winter photo. What's in the classy old building in the background? I love its brick and stone construction.

Thanks, guys, for the kind words.

Jason, @Bama Samurai has certainly been an inspiration for my current shavette focus. I'm considering 100 or so total shaves using both the Parker SRX and the Feather AC SS shavettes. It's a boat load of fun and a challenge shaving most every day with an open blade. If I wasn't so averse to blade edge maintenance, I'd go for one of those "scary looking" straight razors like @Keithmax sometimes uses...it's actually just another razor that demands excellent technique and proper respect.

I'm curious about Barbasol, but I haven't taken the plunge on a can yet. I've got so many other great soaps and creams vying for their turn. A few years ago, I purchased a dozen sticks of Arko. I used some and gave some away. I once did a side-by-side comparison between Arko and MdC as a focus here on the 30 DC thread. Much respect here for Arko's performance, although I'm not a huge fan of the scent. I started plowing through my mostly full container Soap Commander in early November. I'm probably somewhere around 100 shaves on it.

    Thanks for the mention. You're absolutely right, all razors require good technique to obtain optimal results. Don't try Barbasol, it will ruin your fun! (;

    February Favorites!!

    February 15

    Razor - Muhle R41
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Mitchell's Wool Fat
    Brush - Stirling Badger
    Post - Alum

It's a snowy Friday night and a good night to enjoy a great shave. Stayed with almost the exact same setup as last night, only changing the brush. The Stirling Badger is a great brush that made enough lather with the Fat to cover me for an entire week I think. The Muhle with Sharp Star did its usual highly efficient job and with little to no irritation from the alum. Quality shave with some very high quality products, obviously. Gotta love this kind of shave. I'll probably give it another run tomorrow night before moving on.

Hope your weather is better than ours! Have a great Saturday!

Thanks, Jason. The meeting was very efficient and we were out of there before noon. Funny enough, I used to golf as much as I could as a teenager and in my early 20s. Had a 9 handicap at one point, but I haven't played in several years as it's tough to get away with Wilson being young. I miss it in some aspects but it's also a terribly expensive hobby. I still revere and respect the game and inveterately watch The Masters each year.

    TGIF!! Great post, Andrew!

WOOHOO!! Outstanding!! Thank you, Jason, for a wonderful PIF.

    Thank you, gentlemen!

The Ladas i found to be the less agressive of the Russian steel . The Rapiras are awesome.

I'm really enjoying it Andrew. Love the knot and the classic handle. Green is my fav color btw.

    Saturday Shave

In keeping with February Favorites I used my favorite brush, Jason made the handle and it has a very soft Shavemac silverip knot. The Huntsman is still sporting a wonderful edge. A very nice shave.

Went with the 'grandmother purse' scent today. Actually I am not really sure by what is meant by this, my grandmother's purse never smelled like Tabac. She always wore Chanel No 5, a scent that is timeless in my book.

    Irritation A+ Closeness A Smoothness A+ Sharpness A+

    Razor: Wacker Huntsman
    Strop: SRD
Brush: Handle by Jason Shavemac knot
    Pre: Proraso
    Soap: Tabac
    AS: Speick AS, L’Occitane ASB
    Scent: Tabac
