Well it's that time if year to get a new pair of steel toe boots ........ I have Loggers and steel toe Wing tips; just felt like something different. I work QA/QC, so I wear dress pants / trousers, figured these would fit the bill.
I usually buy "made in USA", but couldn't find any in the style I wanted; so I saw these Justin Men's Stampede Pulley 8" Lace-Up Work Boots in steel toe https://www.bootbarn.com/justin-men...D_BwE&ef_id=W840vAAAAG6wQR-X:20190216142025:s Signed up with my email to get a 10% discount, got free shipping and no tax. My company pays $85, and I'll gladly pay the difference.
A Mark Cross card wallet popped up on eBay at a silly price. Given my affection for my Mark Cross razor I had to. Will be a nice alternative to carrying my cards Cosa Nostra style (broccoli rubber band) which I've been doing for years. I also ordered the OC plate for my Timeless Bronze, my favorite modern razor. Lastly a DFS forum member was willing to let go his NOS Knockout and I was happy to take it
Good question. Although the picture on the box does look like the Wardonia barrel hole blade I gather it will take a standard blade.
None of the users have mentioned the need to modify a blade, but if that's the case it's ok, I do that for my Wardonia without much difficulty.
They've gotten good reviews, but I'll find out in a few days and know for sure in a week or so from that. I like square toe shoes and use to wear square toe cowboy boots many years ago.
This: A member of another forum (I think he has an account here but is not very active) has been experimenting with chemical etching of razor caps. He expressed a willingness to do a few for other people on a "no guarantees" basis. I contacted him and he agreed to do one for me. This is actually a nickel-plated Tech cap (the gold color is apparently an artifact of the lighting) which has been engraved with an image of the USS Enterprise. (I explained that I was thinking of something Star Trek themed and he suggested this one). It is, as I understand it, the first Nickel-plated cap he has done (I provided him a bare brass one in case this failed.) and is the finest level of detail he has attempted. In gratitude, I agreed to let him PIF the brass cap with the winner's choice of custom artwork. I'm looking forward to getting this one into the Den. (And, yes, I know that a DE razor is much more reimagined BSG than Star Trek. Maybe if I ever get another one, I'll have the Galactica put on it. )
1914 Every Ready razor in case is on the way. The safety bar looks bent slightly but I think I can fix that. It was cheap and we will see how it cleans up.
