    I never had a problem with carts. I was always able to get very good shaves using them. I started using a DE to save money. It would have been cheaper using carts.

    Good afternoon everyone!
    I just finished my shave!
    I took out my Dovo Special for this event. I decided to continue with my "firsts" theme of the month by only using Noxema Classic Cleansing Cream as the lather. I used my Rockwell synthetic brush to lather my face. Although I got a BBS shave, the cream was not slick and it was a little pasty even with the addition of water. I guess it is only good as an undercoat as a preshave and nothing more. Did 2 passes and neck touch-up and got a tiny nick on my right earlobe and a tiny weeper on my left cheek as I was doing my ATG pass. Fortunately, the styptic pencil made them imperceptible. I finished with some Modessa witchhazel and Old Spice aftershave. I have to say my skin looks real nice and smooth. Result: Grade 94 = A
    PS I extended my shave den today.
    I bought a jar of Stirling's Sandalwood, Piacenza and Bay Rum with their respective aftershaves. Also, I couldn't resist, I bought a shave ready vintage Wostenholm 5/8 square point from the same EBay seller that I purchased my vintage W. F. Engel Special for $30. I know that whenever I say no more Ebay purchases, it is like I cry wolf. I guess I can keep my promises to others, but apparently not to myself. Lol! You guys have a wonderful afternoon and evening!

    Thanks Clint! I am looking forward to these new soaps and the Wostenholm. Now, I have enough soap and aftershave to last me at least 2 years.

    Terry, that is a great story! May I offer a suggestion. If there is a church or an organization nearby that gives things away to the indigent, then I am sure they would take those disposable razors from you. Enjoy your day my friend!

    Jim, great post! I never tried Stirling soaps until someone piffed me a sample of Sandalwood and Sandpiper. I just ordered the Sandalwood, Bay Rum and Pacienza soaps with their respective aftershaves.

    @wristwatchb
    Charlie, 40 straight shavette shaves is pretty solid. Your technique should be there as well. There are many advantages in shavette shaving, namely, no maintenance and they are less expensive. Also, if you ever decide to switch to using a traditional straight, your shavette skills will make it easier. Charlie, enjoy your weekend!

    Thanks, Jim!
    Boomtown grows on me more everytime I use it. The addition of gun smoke and leather makes for an interesting bay rum. I can still smell the aftershave.

    I attribute the similarity of scent to Certs breath mints, and maybe Kleenex tissues. Both were always in my Dad's mother's purse and freely given to any little ones as candy and nose wipers.
    Although I have no memory of the event, like Patrick @9nein9 some lady must have caught me digging in a purse during my formative years. To this day, unless it's an emergency, I'm loath to put my hand inside a ladies bag.
