thicker. SE about .5 mm, DE about .1mm thickness of course that is just a real quick measurement with my handy caliper with the first SE and first DE blade I had in reach.
I would say that they are thicker.. what do you other guys think? I like the treet blades a lot.. that is about all I am using these days. Fuzzy
A little bit thicker. Well, the plastic case for my Treets says ASR on it. So, at least the case is ASR, but I guess Cal was right, the Treets are ASR blades. So, the GEMs by Personna, Treet Super, and PAL super I have are all ASR blades. The Gems look very nice, super shiny, stamped GEM on one side and Stainless on the other The Treets don't look as nice, not shiny, and are stamped Made In USA on one side and blank on the other. The PALs look freakin' cool. They're that deep metal blue color, except the spine and edge. They're stamped Made In USA on one side and blank on the other. The PAL will be first up, tomorrow.
ohh I got one right.. cool... I can really not tell much if any difference in the different ASR blades.. but then again I also like perculated coffee so go figure. Fuzzy
Yes I have used them... a month or so ago I picked some up...i just pick some up whereever I am when I need them. I am not picky about brands on the ASR. On another note. I just worked up a test batch of toms mint.. Some people were saying it is not a good cream.. mounds of incredible smelling lather for me. Even though the instructions say to just work lather up by putting some in hands and rubbing together I used a brush..... WONDERFUL stuff. Fuzzy
Thanks Justin! I figured they had to be since you don't want the blade to bend. I'll probably try an SE after I have a solid year of DE shaving experience. Edit: and thanks Cal and Matt.
I picked up some SE razors in the fall. I only used them a few times. I am not sure why I didn't stick with them at the time.
I have two 1912 patent GEM and two 1912 patent Ever-Ready. I think I felt (and still feel) that I have so much invested (and continue to invest) in DE razors in blades to switch over to SE. My shaves were close I was using GEM blue star blades. Looking back over my logs, it looks like this was also when I was using a soap that I was having a reaction with, so my impression of the GEM shaves may be clouded by the irritation caused by the soap - not the razor. I just got them out to feel. I have gone to nice thick heavy handles in my DE razors. I think the Ever-ready handles are a better fit for me. Too bad they are a different thread size then the GEM heads.
You should be able to find the heavy handle Gem that looks just like the ornate handle on the Ever Ready... Sol posted a pic of one that he has last night. Mine is currently with Dom. He might end up keeping it. Fuzzy
Well... corked a GEM blade, stropped, and loaded into an ever-ready. If this rash from the Williams clears up I am trying a DE blade to see if I want in the group buy tomorrow. Then the Ever-Ready is primed for Sunday's shave. If it does well, it will be used 3-4 times next week.
The Queen of Blades doesn't want to talk about blades? :scared001 It's a mad house... a mad house!! :whacky011
