1. This is quite an interesting razor. I've never seen one like it

  2. I'd really like to own one of these. A nice piece of wet shaving history... Sadly haven't seen any locally around me in Pennsylvania. Does anyone have one that they don't need or use? Or know someone that might want to get rid of one?? Please let me know, thanks. I'll continue to keep an eye out in the meantime...

  4. There's a version 1.5 on the Bay now, over priced but maybe worth tracking. This version has the Bakelite handle of the version 1.0 and the basic head design/hinged cap of the version 2.0.

  5. Yeah I saw it. Pretty over priced. Shipping from my state (Pennsylvania). Wow someone actually bid at that price! Hope they enjoy it...

  8. I now have both a gen 1 and gen 2. I prefer the shave of the gen 2 better I think... Seems to be more consistent and a little smoother. I like the audible feedback as well.

  9. Nothing in my den beats the two stacked blade trick in my version 1 And there's a lot in my den. Closer and smoother than version 1.5 or 2.

  10. Hmm, I may have to try the double stacked blade trick... Just two DE razor blades stacked on each other??

  11. Yep. Just works. In theory I think you could put a shim on top but when you stack them the top blade gets that much closer to the edge of the cutting bottom blade, so in my mind this approach should be more effective.

  12. I should dig my shake sharps out and give them a whirl. Been a while since I used either one. They are one of the few one pass razors I've used. It's hard to beat their shave.

  14. I shaved with the stacked 2 blades this morning on my Gen 1... Wow! Completely different shave in a good way! Completely mowed down 4 days of beard growth easily. It's back in the rotation.

  18. Here's the original announcement of the Shake Sharp, first unveiled for sale exclusively at Gimbel's for Christmas 1945. Ad was published in a number of regional papers December 20, 1945.[IMG]

  19. Hahahaha, the ad makes the Shake Sharp sound like the best thing since sliced bread. I really love that 2 out of 3 photos are of women using the razor that they "stole" from their husbands. Classic!

Reminds me, while I'm shaving with SE razors... no reason why I can't have a Shake Sharp shave or 2!!
