44th focus shave
I performed two passes and a few touch ups on two days of growth, and the result was a very comfortable and error-free near BBS shave. I decided to launch JR # 160 in order to bring this container of soap to its ultimate demise. This should happen in a few days.
If I consider my week-to-week progress with the shavette, both my technique and confidence with it are slowly improving. I get closer error-free shaves in my trouble spots (around my chin and mouth area) by experimenting with skin stretching, direction, hand grip, etc. I'm taking baby steps. Sometimes I will take time to build a little confidence before trying something different. Inspecting the results in my 10x mirror this morning, I realize I still have some work to do on one side of my lower chin. I plan to start experimenting on this area by holding my razor in my off hand. I can see this move taking a few more shaves to perfect.
I realize a long focus like this would drive some folks nuts. (I'm already nuts, so it doesn't matter to me.) I get a kick out of learning new things to improve my technique. It actually keeps me from
focusing on getting more stuff for the den. I can always buy more stuff, but I gotta learn new technique. I enjoy being in the zone while using my shavette, and I feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of every shave. Everyone is different, but that's more fun for me these days. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
I finished up a Fine Platinum and Aramis. To my nose, these scents pair well together for a nice finish. I'll never be as handsome as
@Primotenore thinks he is after a great shave, and I'm OK with that.
Enjoy your day!
