Good morning, guys! I just finished my morning shave. Today, I decided to bring out my Böker. It is the second time I am using it. In keeping with my "firsts" theme I decided to break open my Stirling Bay Rum soap and Stirling Bay Rum AS. I face lathered with my Omega Pro 49 and proceeded to shave. WTG and ATG with touch-ups gave me a BBS. However, I nicked behind my ear and cut my neck because I was using the upside-down backhand maneuver. It is difficult to see the razor while doing this feat even when I turn sideways to face the mirror. The way my beard grows, it is the only way I can truly get BBS on my jawline and neck area. Truth be told, I was overconfident doing this maneuver because I have done it a few times before with great success. Oh well live and learn! I have to say that I like the Bay Rum scent from the soap and AS. Used the styptic and witchhazel to mend my mishaps and finished with that nice Bay Rum aftershave.
    Result Grade 91 = A-
Have a great Saturday guys! 20190223_104618.jpg

I enjoyed an uneventful focus shave # 45 with the Parker SRX yesterday. No shave today. We got started with our packing. We plan to get it done little by little over the next few weeks. We found a ready supply of free moving boxes with cardboard inserts at a local store. :) We'll also be donating some items. Moving is a great time to de-clutter.

We've got a gentleman lined up to move our big items. My Bride and I will move the smaller items in our car or in a U-Haul. This is how we moved the last time around, and it worked out great.

I hope you all are having a restful weekend!

Very nice shaves, Terry. It's always more fun to mow down a two-day beard. I'm glad your family is healthy. Take care of yourself, and I hope you get over your cold soon!

Nice morning shave, Joe. It has been fun following your "firsts" theme and your straight razor journey. Sorry about the boo boos. Unfortunately, it's a rite of passage with open blade shaving. The good news is that they become infrequent and minor with time and practice.

I notice you give all A's. I wish you would have been my teacher. The only downsides (for you) are that I would have been your student, and you'd be 120 years old now. :happy097:

    Have a great weekend!

    Day 50.

Excellent lather today with the Musgo Real. But I'm really not liking their oak moss scent. I'm not even sure why they call it that. Oak moss is not one of the notes listed on their own web site. I think I'll move this along, and stick with the classic scent. And the lavender.

Three passes with the Ralf Aust, one with the tech. And the aftershave balm is classic scent, so all's good here.

    Good morning!

Busy start for a Saturday. Woke up to about eight inches of freshly fallen snow. Got that shifted. Breakfast and coffee, complete. The wife had a list of honey do's, complete. Shower and shave, finally.

Excellent shave! Three passes to BBS.

My impressions after four consecutive uses of the CK6 base:

Latherability- I found that I need to go after this with a wetter brush than what I normally do. Start off too dry and it's a pasty stringy sticky mess. Similar to B&M Reserve in my experience. I use a heated and reheated scuttle with hot tap water. The CK6 is the most heat stable of all my soaps. What I end up with in the scuttle is what it is on my face. I find most soaps don't like the hot scuttle. They look airy and frothy until painted on. Some more than others. A twenty second load is easily enough for six passes. The CK1 jumps to a lather more quickly but not as heat stable. Once painted on it comes together.

Shave performance- As far as slickness, residual slickness and protection I find no appreciable difference between the CK1 and CK6. Both top tier in my opinion.

Post shave- This is an area that really surprises me. I have a skin care routine that I do morning and night. I thought this would make the post shave feel inconsequential being that I use a moisturizer twice a day. Not so at all. The CK6 leaves this nearly fifty three year old man with a noticeably silky smooth face.

In conclusion the post shave feel is where the CK6 stands out above the CK1. [IMG]
