    Oh my..
From my limited experiance with soap making...
Seems that batch was not mixed properly during trace or the lye was not dissolve before mixing.
I would have tossed it out if it was my batch.

I don't remember exactly when I bought it but I used my debit card so no luck. Of course. And, I am the guy you have to use a cattle prod on repeatedly to buy any kind of extra warranty on electronics. I noticed last night when I was on Best Buy's website they offer an accidental damage coverage for a year for $40. Even now, after having this happen, I still didn't add it to the cart. Stubborn? Foolhardy? Cheap? Probably all three.

Doug, great report! If I am not mistaken, I believe the Folsom Capri is no longer available.

WCS has more than one service rep it seems. I did once have an issue with an order. The first response that I got was the wrong answer. So I tried again, and someone else replied. Apologized for the first response, and made things right. So for me, at least, no bridges were burned that day.

I know the feeling about warrantees. In most cases, it seems worth the gamble that the item will last longer than the extended warranty or, conversely, that the replacement will be cheap enough and have possibly improved in quality in the mean time.

Now that I think of it, the salesman did offer to sell me an extended warranty the last time we bought a mattress. It was especially interesting since the warranty would take it past the store's "Replace every eight" slogan. :)

    Good morning!

Not my best shave. Three passes for BBS with a couple of hot spots from the alum. I really struggled with my lather. I over hydrated witch resulted in a thin quickly dissipating lather. I ended up going back to the puck for a reload and finished the shave face lathering. My fault, I usually error on the under hydrated side. Funny thing, a year ago this would have been my best shave ever. Tomorrow's another day and another shave.

    Have a wonderful Sunday! [IMG]

    Razor: Post-War Gillette Tech
    Blade: Dorco STD-301 (1)
    Brush: VdH Boar
    Soap: Stirling Naked And Smooth
    Post: Alum, Listerine

You may recall from my posts back in NOthing But Techs November, that I was working on something that I called the "Ultimate Tech Kit". It was basically a collection of Tech baseplates along with a fat handle and a cap and was inspired by those fancy, modern razors that come with a whole set of different baseplates. Over the past few days, I received a few packages and was inspired to revamp the kit. Behold...
    IMG_0406.jpg
The most obvious change is the etched cap bearing the image of a certain iconic starship. The etching was a very generous PIF by a member of another forum and the result was just too good to devote to a single razor.

The two-tone handle came was an eBay purchase and came along with a thick-cap OT head which was tarnished, but in otherwise good shape. That head is now part of a WIP restoration of a pocket set. The nickel plating on the handle is in surprisingly good shape though I'm not sure how the fluting got unplated without the loss of plating on the rest of the handle. I'm wondering if this is what you get if you remove the ebony from an "ebonized" handle.

Other changes: The nickel pre- and post-war baseplates have been replaced with gold ones to carry on the two-tone theme. (The etched cap previously in the kit has been reunited with its post-war baseplate and original handle.) An English FB Tech has joined the kit and, under it, is a New SC baseplate. (Thanks again, @Jorvaljr.) Under the cap is a US Bakelite Tech baseplate.

Everything someone would need to shave in the vast reaches of the Final Frontier. :)

For today, I went simple with the post-war baseplate. Two days of growth easily removed for a most satisfying result with no issues or irritation.

I'm thinking that I may stay with this kit for a few days and just swap out the baseplates.

Terry, when i get one of those soaps that dry out fast on my face, I will only lather up a small area, shave it then lather a bit more. Similiar to handwaxing a car.

I remember trying to get warranty on something i bought with debit card . When they asked how i payed i said debit. They asjed a few questions like expiry, and last 4 numbers on card. I got my product replaced . Maybe give it a try, may get lucky.

Haven’t had much time to check in properly this weekend. Had the chance for an outstanding 3 pass shave earlier today. Chased it a bit, and caught it. Definitely a favourites shave.
    Have a great day all!

Great picture, Terry! I hope you stick with the Fat for a bit, as it can be a great soap once dialed in.
