Paul, A little dab will do ya was the catchphrase for Brylcream in the late 50's to early 60's. I am a couple of years older than you and so I remember those commercials.
Yes, I remember that too-just wanted to be silly and apply it to shaving. Ah, the late 50's-early 60's....I'm glad I had those years to experience-I miss them today.
Unfortunately, it is a different world today. I feel sorry for today's kids because they are exposed to so much adult stuff too soon!
That gives me an idea for my 2019 Pinaud Package Purchase. You can get Clubman hair gel in Brylcreem size. (Comes in tubs too, but the smaller size might be easier to apply, and would remind me of the old days. club-MAN...a little dab'll do ya,.
It can grow back after a haircut, but not as fast these days(years). That's why I figured I'd do the small one. I have a 16-oz. hair gel from Stephan, but that will last me the rest of my life(or I could give it to my "modern-day man" nephew).
Tuesday shave Decided to give the Lemon Chill a test run with a straight. I picked my Dovo Masters because it is so easy to shave with and has a fantastic edge. The shave was epic and the amount of menthol is really on the edge for using a straight since I use the feel of the blade to adjust angle and pressure. After the shave, the razor took a dive and despite having the blade closed it opened some on impact and the edge is dinged
It should be easy, it looks the edge rolled a little in one spot. I trip across the stones should make it right.
Good evening guys! Just finished my shave! Danny inspired me to bring out my Rockwell 6C. Keeping my "firsts" theme, I tried a sample of a new soap that a TSD shave member piffed me. It is Moon Soaps Havana. I used a dish bowl to swirl my Semogue OC Super Badger and it lathered quite nicely. The scent was overbearing, but it was pleasant. The soap was slick, my Rocky slid down the contours of my face like it was sledding on ice. WTG and ATG with some touchups and it was BBS w/o any liquid red or skin chafing. I have to admit, this shave was by far better than any of my straight shaves. Finished with reliable Old Spice AS. I know that I am going to sound like a homer, but this Rockwell 6C is the bomb! I am really impressed with it tonight! I want to thank the TSD member for the sample of Moon Soaps Havana. To me, this soap is just as good as Stirling's soap. Have a wonderful night fellas!
