Very nice focus Charlie, you have my applause.

I'm at the straights phase of my journey and loving it.

Can you give us some of your comparative observations.

    Thx

Thanks Perry, I may try some distilled water next time to see if it is the hard water here in CO that is the source of the issue. This is honestly the first soap that I've ever had difficulty lathering.

Thanks Jim, I guess you have to have a rough shave every once in a while to really appreciate the good ones!

I did grate it and press it in the tin. The top is smoothing out nicely so I know I'm picking up a lot of soap.

The only down side to my 6s would be the weight. After using the Gems it just feels heavy but I do like a heavy razor .....some folks may not.

    Day 53.

Another good-as-it-gets shave with the Ralf Aust and the Micromatic. The Zenith best badger did an awesome job. The La Toja is down to 4 or 5 shaves I think, so I think I'll be sticking with it until it's gone.

Lovely setup, Robert! Will you continue to use the La Toja as a shave stick or will you press whatever is left into your bowl ?

Yes, the stainless steel version is heavier and some shavers might prefer a lighter razor.

Andrew, I used to have similar problems with MWF. In fact, I gave away my first puck out of frustration. I finally tried it again and now like it a lot. The difference is I quit buying into all of the special instructions online about MWF. I just use it like any other soap. I don’t bloom it, grate it, add more water, add less water, use distilled water, etc. I just wet my brush and load it from a dry puck. Then I bowl lather, adding drops of water, if needed, until I have a nice lather. Try this approach and see what happens. Good luck!

Sorry about the rough shave. The WWB brush looks fantastic though.

    Thanks Andrew!

I'll stick with what's been working for me. "Color" the bottom of the bowl like a crayon, then lather in the bowl. That's been giving me unbeatable lathers.

Thanks Brian, This is how I approached my first lather with it and I ended up with a foamy, frothy mess. But I will keep trying.

The only thing I do different with Mitchell's is work it longer than most other soaps. It keeps getting stiffer, and accepts more water.

Oh, you have the big one :). I've used that many times(and love it), but at 61, I need to begin to "err on the thin" when it comes to hair. That's why I'll be going for the small one-a better chance to get out the exact amount necessary.

They did Andrew. It was our second trip to the facility. The girls searched around and found their special required socks purchased on the previous visit. Built inside what was a Kroger grocery store it's mostly all ground level access so little kids can play, too. With plenty of seating for the non-participating adults and a well trained polite teen age staff, they did well serving the pizza hot and the ice cream cold. The girls were asleep within 30 minutes of returning to the house. ;)

Thank you Robert! There were a couple passages I recalled that have pertinent information.

Some of the known perils of Dihydrogen Monoxide are:
    • Death due to accidental inhalation of DHMO, even in small quantities.
    • Prolonged exposure to solid DHMO causes severe tissue damage.
    • Excessive ingestion produces a number of unpleasant though not typically life-threatening side-effects.
    • DHMO is a major component of acid rain.
    • Gaseous DHMO can cause severe burns.
    • Contributes to soil erosion.
    • Leads to corrosion and oxidation of many metals.
    • Contamination of electrical systems often causes short-circuits.
    • Exposure decreases effectiveness of automobile brakes.
    • Found in biopsies of pre-cancerous tumors and lesions.
    • Given to vicious dogs involved in recent deadly attacks.
    • Often associated with killer cyclones in the U.S. Midwest and elsewhere, and in hurricanes including deadly storms in Florida, New Orleans and other areas of the southeastern U.S.
    • Thermal variations in DHMO are a suspected contributor to the El Nino weather effect.
    • Some of the well-known uses of Dihydrogen Monoxide are: [IMG]
      • as an industrial solvent and coolant,
      • in nuclear power plants,
      • by the U.S. Navy in the propulsion systems of some older vessels,
      • by elite athletes to improve performance,
      • in the production of Styrofoam,
      • in biological and chemical weapons manufacture,
      • in the development of genetically engineering crops and animals,
      • as a spray-on fire suppressant and retardant,
      • in so-called "family planning" or "reproductive health" clinics,
      • as a major ingredient in many home-brewed bombs,
      • as a byproduct of hydrocarbon combustion in furnaces and air conditioning compressor operation,
      • in cult rituals,
      • by the Church of Scientology on their members and their members' families (although surprisingly, many members recently have contacted DHMO.org to vehemently deny such use),
      • by both the KKK and the NAACP during rallies and marches,
      • by members of Congress who are under investigation for financial corruption and inappropriate IM behavior,
      • by kids who play Beyblades,
      • by the clientele at a number of bath houses in New York City and San Francisco,
      • historically, in Hitler's death camps in Nazi Germany, and in prisons in Turkey, Serbia, Croatia, Libya, Iraq and Iran,
      • in World War II prison camps in Japan, and in prisons in China, for various forms of torture,
      • during many recent religious and ethnic wars in the Middle East,
      • by many terrorist organizations including al Qaeda,
      • in community swimming pools to maintain chemical balance,
      • in day care centers, purportedly for sanitary purposes,
      • by software engineers, including those producing DICOM software and other DICOM software tools,
      • by popular computer science professors,
      • by the semi-divine King Bhumibol of Thailand and his many devoted young working girls in Bangkok,
      • by the British Chiropractic Association and the purveyors of the bogus treatments that the BCA promotes,
      • by commodities giant Trafigura in their well-publicized and widely-known toxic-waste dumping activities in Ivory Coast,
      • in animal research laboratories, and
      • in pesticide production and distribution.
