Thank you, Charlie. I haven't heard of Whaletown, but if you need to take two ferries to get there I'm guessing it is somewhere on the rural coast. It is probably spectacular and pristine and probably very much in the coastal rainforest. I grew up right on the coast in a town about an hour north of Vancouver which would probably have similar geography. Where I live now is the other side of the province (BC is quite a bit bigger than Texas, fwiw) right above the borders of Idaho and Montana. The Rockies are the border between BC and Alberta. BC is very diverse with its size- geographically, culturally, socially, etc. There are even parts of the province that are deserts, complete with sagebrush, rattlesnakes and wineries. Other parts of the province are ranchlands and agriculture based.
When you say you may visit British Columbia (means the British side of the Columbia river, btw...dang Manifest Destiny!), I guess what I am saying is that you can get a lot of different experiences based on where you go. Most of it is pretty mountainous wherever you go, though! You will have a very cool experience with your friends on the coast or the islands for sure.

Yup, I do. I've given well over an ounce of the 2nd tub away as samples, but I'd guess I have about 2.5 oz or so in the 2nd tub as a backup.

Thanks Jason. BC sounds like a place we need to visit. Whaletown is shown in the upper left hand corner of this map.

Looks like we'd fly into Vancouver and then embark on a very scenic trip.

Today's shave, same setup, except I tried the Williams in the "big bowl" that I do my lathering in, instead of the small bowl that usually holds it while I load my brush. I bloomed the puck while I soaked the brush in the same bowl during my shower, then poured off pretty much all the water and went to town on the puck. Better lather than before, though I had no complaints then.

My only issue is on the right side of my lower neck. This is my "off" side, as I'm left handed, and I think I'm having trouble using the correct angle with my right hand. Or, it's just a sensitive spot. I think it's the former, as I never had any irritation with my carts over the years.

I did try a new aftershave today; guess I'm out of the 30 day challenge. :)

This was a sample of "Old Salty" from PAA. Not bad, not my favorite. The scent seems to be lasting, which is my biggest complaint about the Master Bay Rum my wife likes. I just can't smell it after a relatively short time, but she says she can, so what do I know? I still like the Clubman the best, but I have a few more to try in stock, and a few more that will be soon on the way!

You are making great progress Carl. Also aftershaves don't count on the 30 day rule so you are still good.

Some days (and some jobs!) just showing up is 90% of the work. OSHA about requires you to take breaks so it's all good.

I lost a reference here. Who is on their first Rule and looking forward to trying Stirling samples? I'm curious which scents you have to try? Those samples are big hunks that give days or weeks of shaves. There are some variations in formula, too.

An Un Focused Focus is a thing. Gives you a chance to test and see if all that Technique training worked.

That's my understanding. Keeping with a brush and soap, razor and brand of blade get the lathering and shaving with no variables except for your Technique. Post shave products can vary because some days you might need a little healing and repair while others a scent could be either wanted or declined depending on social obligations.

I’m using the right email now, with no luck, but appreciate the heads up, Clint. I’ll keep trying!

I’m doing a project at work that is an absolute “grind it out” kind of thing. After almost 2 weeks of it, I’m ready to take a long walk off a short pier. Hopefully normal life and the occasional shave report will resume sometime in my future.

Yes, that is very rural. The large Island the highway goes up is Vancouver Island. Victoria, the capitol, is on the southern tip of the island (well below the 49th parallel, fwiw). The City (on the mainland) and the Island are named after George Vancouver, an early English explorer. Spanish (Juan de Fuca straight) and Russian (Bering straight and sea) explorers here as well back in the day. You will take one of two ferries to get on the island. One leaves from south of Vancouver and goes to Victoria, the other leaves from north of Vancouver and goes to Nanaimo. Victoria is worth seeing. I went to the University of Victoria for undergrad and grad school, so got to live there twice. Tonnes to do there. The island highway up Vancouver Island is beautiful. Lots of small, neat places as well. I am not familiar with ferries that leave Campbell River, but you will be going back to the mainland to Whaletown. It really is remote around that area. Whale watching and fishing lodge type of stuff. Traditional Coast Salish (First Nation) villages near there as well. Definite Cedar/Fir coastal rainforest ecosystem. You'll have a blast.
Gary @brit from the Crew lives right in Vancouver as well.

My parents and brother and sister and siblings all spent a week in Victoria once. Alice and I flew to Seattle first and spent about three days there before taking a ferry to Victoria. We rented cars and rented a house about 10-15 minutes out of town. There was a museum there with a Titanic exhibit at the time that was incredible. Some great food as well.
