Some serious PAA love right there, the handful of their products I have I truly enjoy, especially the Sin Splash, a near daily with me.

Used an old Japanese Straight today. I had a not perfect, 1/2 pass, then did 10 laps on a CroX pasted strop, then leather stropped it for 30. I then did a 2 pass shave, that felt like it didn't have an edge on it at all, like a butter knife. But no, the blade so sharp, it just wiped the 3 days of whiskers off, like nothing. I'm happy now. End result was BDBS(Baby Dolphin Butt Smooth). This was one of the first razors I acquired, so, my restoration skills weren't like I liked. So, when it come time to rehone this blade, or I am tired of the water spots, I will polish them out, then rehone the blade. Excellent feeling razor.

Razor- Japanese "Coral". "For professional Barbers Use"
Brush- RazoRock 400. WD High Mountain Badger
    Soap- TOBS Eton College
    Aftershave- Arctic Blue.

Razor - 1955 (A4) Gillette Super Speed Red Tip
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Stirling Sheep
    Brush - Jayaruh #230
    Post - Alum

We're down to the final three shaves of February. I couldn't let the month end without giving the Red Tip SS a few tries. This is a razor formerly owned by @Primotenore and it's a stunning beauty. It's all original. Nothing replated or repainted at all. Pretty amazing to be in this condition. I'll pair it with the Voskhod and for tonight's shave pair up the Stirling sheep with the JR230 for a rich mutton filled lather. Mmmmm....mmmmm.....good!

The Red Tip is considered the most aggressive of the Super Speeds. It is the heaviest of the SS models at 70 grams, which compares to only 45 grams for the Blue Tip. The Flare Tip weighs 58 and the 40's models are slightly less at 54 grams. The blade gap on the Red is .029" as compared to .025" for the 40's models and .023" for the Flare Tip and Blue Tip. Interesting to see how they made the Blue milder just by shaving 13 grams off of the weight. By adding weight and gap to the Red, they definitely added some aggression, though it's still an easily mastered razor.

I've never shaved with one before tonight so I was eager to see how it did. I actually overthought it just a tad at the start and missed the angle. Even at .029" it's still a milder razor and I had to adjust my angle to find the best shave. Once settled in on the angle, however, it became as easy as just allowing the weight of the razor to do the work. An easy three pass for a BBS, or close enough to call it one. Effortless, really, especially with the Sheep lather. A very enjoyable shave and what a fine specimen this razor is. I'm happy it's in my den and available anytime!

With three days left in February it's past time to start thinking about March Madness!! Remember, this isn't about anything as crazy as MAYhem - but think in terms of tournaments of razors, comparisons, or doing something totally unlike what you normally do. I'm actually calling mine "Mild March Madness", and if you can't figure out where I'm heading you're over thinking it! I have some other things planned to make it a truly different month for me that may seem quite Mad!

    Have a great Wednesday!

    Tabac Tuesday SOTN

I'm back to trying to spend more time with SE razors - so I pulled out the bullet tip tonight. Historically, the bullet tip and G-bar seem a little too mild for my beard growth... I'm determined to spend more time to change that. The tabac did its job as usual = awesome scent and sickness. I achieved a pretty DFS shave tonight - it just took a little extra time around my chin and jaw line. Maybe I'll give it a go again tomorrow? Enjoy your night.

    Razor: fatip piccolo
Blade: gillette 7 oclock sharp edge
Soap: the gentlemans groom room malt n Myrtle.

    Hi folks. Today’s SOTD-
    [IMG]

This razor is a special one. The handle on this old E type Schick was made by TSD’s very own Jayaruh. I may have misspelled his monicker but I’m sure everyone knows who I mean. The man is a genius in a wood working shop. I thank you Jim. I am still using it all this time later. The blade is an old Ted Pella of which I have a key cartridge with a few blades left in it.
When I restarted wet shaving again back in 2011, a friend of mine on another forum gave me a tub of some fine english lime scented shaving soap. It sat unused in my procurement drawer for the last 7 years. I had an aversion to limes. I never really liked the lime scent of any lime scented soaps. But today I saw it there, and thought, what the heck?,and so I dug it out. I had to bloom it quite awhile, but this stuff turned out to be an excellent scent, and a great latherer. It’s attributes of slickness, and glide, and its moisturizing capabilities are outstanding. I wish I knew what brand it was. But I may never find out. So anyway folks, that’s my SOTD for today. Good night all, and God Bless.

This was my 7th consecutive shave with Vintage SE razors and I have managed to have 7 good shaves with the same blade. It's still as smooth as it was at the beginning.......just getting a little tired. 3 passes with a little extra work on the neck area to get the desired result.
