Good morning everyone! Just finished my shave this morning. I decided to use the same setup with my Rocky and Semogue badger, but instead, I will be using Williams soap for the first time this month to continue my "firsts" theme. The shave went well with my 2 passes and touchups. There wasn't any red showing anywhere! Ended with Old Spice AS on a BBS face and neck. Tomorrow, I plan on ending this month with a "firsts" bang. Have a wonderful Wednesday guys!
Great photo and shave Perry. I hope you’ve been having a good week. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Excellent bay rum shave and photo Jim. I’m curious how you would rank your various bay rum soaps. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Thanks, Clint! Tough to rank them as I like them all. PAA Clasico and B&M are what I would call classic bay rum scents. Then you have Stirling that adds clove and cinnamon and Ogallala, along with clove and cinnamon they add citrus scents, both wonderful. Atomic Pumpkin is an intoxicating scent. Boomtown with its gunsmoke and leather makes it even more masculine. Atomic age is a brighter bay rum. JoHS and Timeless Signature scent are takes on bay rum that stray from the traditional with the bay rum buried in the background. I don't have Captains Choice committed to memory, I'll need to give the tub a few more sniffs. I think that's all of them. In short I did a lot of typing without answering your question. Have a great day! Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
I’ve always enjoyed a good mm shave. Great pic Perry, the color of the handle matches the soap and as perfectly. very nice razor Jim. Is Stirling s bay rum a strong one or mild? I had been thinking of trying it out, I prefer mild bay rums or ones that tame down fairly quick.
February Focus Boellis Panama 1924~~Rooney Emillion 2~~Portland 1905 SR #32 Back in the saddle today. I can actually get a straight razor shave in about the same time as a DE. Boellis Panama lathered wonderfully today with the Rooney. Face-lathering mos def cuts a great deal of time off of the shave prep. The Portland has a wicked edge and truth be told, shaved just as well as yesterday's Fatboy AND...no weepers. No silly "baby-chasing" this morning. Yesterday was pure folly and not worth the weepers. Before the Boellis EdT, I finished the shave with some Thayer's Medicated Witch Hazel, followed by a dab of Stirling Glacial Unscented Balm. Note: Like the balm, but it separates overnight in the container, so a vigorous shake is required; and, as I have mentioned before, it does not absorb easily into the skin, ESPECIALLY if you use too much. "A little dab'll do you"
Thanks, Paul. I would call Stirling Bay Rum scent strength somewhat strong off the puck and fades some once lathered. Be aware it does have cinnamon in it. The soap doesn't bother me but I get a pretty good slow building burn from the aftershave. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Thank you Jim. You did a wonderful job answering the question. I am looking to add a Bay Rum soap to the den. I have thought of Mike's Bay Rum and Classico. I have a few soaps just about done, so I will make a choice later.
Thank you, Jim! Thank you, Clint! It's been overly busy the past week. Today will hopefully be a slower day. Thank you, Danny! Thank you, Paul!
