February 27, 2018 Razor: New SC w/ Trek cap Blade: Dorco STD-301 (3) Brush: VdH Boar Soap: Stirling Naked And Smooth Post: Alum, Listerine Continuing on through the Ultimate Tech Kit, we come to what is not, technically, a Tech- a New SC. This particular baseplate was a generous PIF from @Jorvaljr. The gold wash is gone but it's in decent shape except for a missing inner tooth. I was first introduced to the New SC a few months ago and have been impressed with them ever since. Today's shave did not disappoint. I forgot to bring the camera so no SOTD photo. I did grab this photo of today's razor along with one of my other New SCs.
Day 54. Three passes with the Ralf Aust, touchups with the tech. Here lately it seems I need the double edge less and less. Maybe I'll skip it tomorrow. As for today, all the stars lined up, and the shave rocked.
February 27 Parker SRX Lord Super Stainless (1) Simpson Chubby 2 Super Soap Commander Love Alum, Thayers WH, USB, CC Bay Rum & Aramis 49th focus shave Another nice and relaxing two-pass shave this morning. The Soap Destroyer chased bits (not granules, mind you) of soap around in the container, so SC Love's days are numbered. I finished with Captain's Choice based on all the bay rum discussion, and it's still a favorite. The weather is beautiful today. We'll have more cold snaps, but I think the worst of winter for us is over. We just got home from a walk, and we have errands and dinner with friends planned for later. Another big day in the life of this old hillbilly hipster and his beautiful Bride. Enjoy your day, gents.
Thanks Andrew, maybe you got a better batch. Thanks Jason. Glad the Colonia is working out. Thank you Jim. Thanks Perry. Hope the concert was a success. Thanks Clint.
Thank you Joe. A couple more things to finish and I can leave the office Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm glad you're beginning to feel better, Clint. I made a huge mistake last year by not seeing the doc soon enough. Please go ahead and make the appointment. Don't make us rat you out to Swati!
Very nice John! The New SC is my favorite Gillette DE! Awesome shave, Robert! Excellent photo, Charlie!
I lost me, too, Jim. But you brought it back. Crew Member @Moose mentioned having several Stirling soap samples he was anxious to try. In my Shavette Fu Fury I had selectively pulled a quote from your post but forgot who I was addressing. Comrade Neal @NCoxSTL seems pleased at the sheer volume of posts lately. There has been no lacking of Quality either. Not long after I joined The Staff, Brother Chris @Bama Samurai asked if I wanted to invite new TSD members to the Newbie Giveaway. It's been a while since that ceased, but I make sure I greet new TSD members in The Welcome Center posts. With our burgeoning 30 DC and veteran members helping there's been no slackening of recruitment to keep our room full up. Bottom line; this discussion thread rocks! Dessert , too! --> Making Boozy Ice Cream I'm curious about the Blue, and I like Lime! For a low priced soap it performs well. Triple milled Italian soap is good stuff. Has anyone confirmed or denied TFS as the maker? I've started doing that, too. Once you get enough of a rotation stocked up they might set for weeks between use. Then there's vintage Old Spice and Avon that could have decades between applications.
I had forgotten about the newbie giveaway since it officially ended on TSD back whenever. I wonder if we could revive that as part of this thread? We'd just need a few regular items suitable for newbies to be donated each month. Just a thought. Buehler? Buehler?
Careful about saying the worst of winter is over - talking single digits here again this weekend. It's Mardi Gras weekend here in the Lou so we traditionally have some of our worst and coldest weather that weekend. Not sure if it's headed toward Kentucky on the way out - but you may need to duck and cover one more time.
The Newbie giveaway was an awesome perk to joining. I won the month I joined. That's how I got my first puck of The Fat. @Boojum1 sent it to me as part of the prize. Good idea to investigate a revival.
Razor: Gillette Fatboy Executive F-1 Blade: Personna 74 Tungsten (6) Brush: 30DC LE w/ MS 2 Band 100% Finest 24/63 Soap: TSD Blood & Steel LE A/S: Folsom Capri Bowl: Suribachi This will end my February Rule with my Fatboy's, my 30DC LE brush, my Blood & Steel soap (thank you Charlie @wristwatchb) Folsom & Co Capri. I did find it difficult at times using the same products for a month, but the thought of quitting is not in my vocabulary. I very happy I made it through the month. Next month will be fun. Yes there are Wild Turkey's in the background.
