NEW with the long bar not the locating pins. I sent in a long tooth comb and a short tooth comb to have replated. I prefer the hooks and the way the blade sits on this over the Old Style. I actually have a few Old Styles as well. What I do not have is the New Improved. I would love to get a Big Fellow at some point in time.

I believe that he charges $15 for plating per head. However, that also depends on how much work he has to do on getting the head prepped and ready.

mmmm... I miss that after the rain creosote smell. So what was this, 1st rain out of 10 for the year?

Good morning Cal. But please, get fully dressed before you start typing

umm....good night, Bong? If you're staying up, then good morning.

    Good morning Justin.

And good morning to whoever posts while I'm typing all this up and anyone who comes in after....

Post pictures when you get them back, I'm such a cheapsake, I'll probably never have it done.

The Big fellow is a hefty impressive hunk of steel. I got one on B, was spendy, but oh well.........
I should get an hour or 2 of naptime in.
I had to check on an ebay auction so I stayed up late.

Well.. I did 90 some percent of the prepwork myself. I was sick, I was bored, I was procrastinating.... Next thing I knew I was sanding and buffing... So this way I can take some pride in the final project.

Yeah... there lies the rub. I am too cheap to buy a Big Fellow. I drool at all the expensive razors and instead of buying one expensive razor buy a whole bunch of cheap ones.

    Did you win?

I haven't used a New or New Improved, yet. I would like to get one of those Bulldogs, though. I think that's what they're called. I don't even care if it shaves well for me, I just think they look really nice.

I may have located a tumbler to try out, Bong. Also a source to make Titanium scales. A buddy of mine dabbles in metal work as a hobby, and does Titanium work, too.

I think the new are better than the new improved.

Did you have the whole razor plated, or just the heads? and did you get new handles?

I have a few nice razors, none are mint. I also have a lot of very junky looking razors that shave just as well as the nice looking ones. The BF is probably the nicest one I have.this is the original sale thread

Those look nice, Scotty had one on sale on B, looks like the bulldogs had the new improved heads. Gillette had so many different models it makes my head hurt trying to keep them straight.

I have been looking for a silver tuckaway with the deluxe style head. only seen one and Scotty picked it up.

Good deal on finding the tumbler and TI scales.

Hey do you have hones and a strop? The deal on the BST is a great package price for the strop hone and thuringian.

Oh yeah I did win the auction :D

I'll pick it up today or tomorrow. The box looks like it's in good shape, the actually razor, not so much.

TOBS just scored some big points with me. I emailed them asking if it was normal for my TOBS Avocado to be soupy, they are sending me a new tub to replace it.

Cool... did that effect the lather at all?

Seemed to be ok. I remember the couple times I tried it, didn't seem to lather as well as some of the other TOBS creams I tried, but I thought maybe that's how the cream was.

Morning all! Bong, nice job with the TOBS replacement. That is very nice of them. Now just let it sit out overnight and thicken it up. I had a soupy T&H tub and it came out perfect. Wont mess with the efficiency. I am tempted of getting a tub of GFT at shaving essential for that price bit probably shouldnt. I was thinking of either GFT or sandalwood scent.$23.50 for 200 g is only a tad bit more than TOBS.

    1. I emailed Tony Miller last night. He won't let me come pick it up. He replaced the Apprentice Strop with the Aritsan "Lite" I'll probably order one in the 3" width when he opens back up. Although that set from Tully looks nice, I'd rather start with just the strop for now. I'll pick up the hones if I need them down the road.

    2. So, what'd you win?

It's been sitting open for 3 days now.
If you want to, I'd be willing to split a tub of the GFT with you. I was going to order a tub of Frasers from John anyways.
a '58 Chris pointed me to. I think the Dutchman was bidding too, so it wasn't cheap :(

I made a test lather of the TOM the other night.. wonderful lather. and the smell was great. I will be shaving with it in the morning. That will be day three on the treet in the Feather weight.. should be an outstanding shave.

Just a hint on the TOM. It kind of thick sometimes. Tighten top of course and put in bowl with hot water with brush. Really loosens it up well. I love the stuff but not much love here:(

Just the heads.. I am trying to make up my mind for what size handle I want and then I will have him make one for me. I will have a Muehle R89 coming in at some point (I don't think it has been shipped yet) and I want to see how that handle feels.
