    SHAVE OF THE DAY
    20190301_114316.jpg

    Prep: Musgo Real Oakmoss
    Razor: Gillette Tech
    Blade: Croma Diamat
    Brush: Maggard 24mm Synthetic
    Soap: B&M Beaudelaire
    Post: Storybook Soapworks- Shaken A/S

Have noticed people pulling out the Beaudelaire latley since its re-release and figured "what the heck".

Scent of Beaudelaire is hard to describe but has a sharp citrus musky vibe to it that smells great and unique.

Performance of B&M is hit or miss for me. sometimes it works well and other times it feels lacking in some way, luckily this shave went well. Lather exploded once enough water was incorporated and provided a swell shave. Finished off with Shaken which is one of my all time favorite scents, just amazing IMO. Hope everyone had a great shave!

    SATURDAY'S SHAVE

Shampoo - Paul Mitchell (Tea Tree) Lavender Mint
Bath Soap - Lush "Fig and Leaves"
Bath Epsom Salt - Better Bath Better Body "Peppermint & Lavender" - Back Healing
    [IMG]
    Razor - Merkur Futur
    Blade - [IMG] *7th Shave
    Razor Stand by RV Shaving
    Shave Brush - Omega Hi-Brush 20mm Synthetic (Model# 46745 – 0146745)
Brush Stand by Desire Metal Works
    Preshave Oil - Lather & Wood's "Unscented"
Shave Soap - Soap Commander "Wisdom"
Aftershave - Thayers Witch Hazel "Unscented"
Post-Shave Balm - Costume National Homme
Deodorant - Nourish Organic "Fresh Fig"
    Fragrance - Costume National Homme

Should be a great shave. Although I have the matching balm for fragrance, I'm going to likely end up using Soap Commander's Wisdom Balm most often with this set (the Soap Commander balm is shipping now from a brand new batch). For now it will be the matching balm though. And the Nourish brand Fresh Fig deodorant is up for testing with this set. I might go back to the Peppermint Lavender scent if the Fresh Fig doesn't pair properly. One of these two will end up being the regular deodorant for this set. I couldn't pick them based on smelling them separately like I usually can. Both seem to be able to work, so I'm forced to test.

    March Madness!!

    March 1

    Razor - Edwin Jagger DE89l
    Blade - [IMG] (1)
    Soap - Soap Commander Courage
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

Well, here we go. Mild March Madness. Only mild razors, no Stirling, MWF, Tabac or Arko, and no Russian steel. For a month. A whole month. It's ok, I'll make it through without a problem. Most likely, anyway. I decided to start it off I'd use the EJ razor. This is a modern classic for many who started out with this razor. When I started in 2014 this one and the Merkur HD were the two most recommended razors for newbies. I chose this one and have always liked it. Not as much as vintage razors, but it's a good razor to have around. I picked out 10 blades for the month that have no association with Russia. I'm just shuffling them and picking one each time I change. Starting out, the classic Big Ben Super Stainless. Made by Lord in Egypt this is a name that has been around for a very long time. Lord originally manufactured in England before moving to Egypt. My soap to start - Soap Commander Courage. It's a great soap, vegan (which is why it's second tier in my world - no tallow) and produces an outstanding lather and a very nice after-shave face feel. Especially for being vegan. The brush? A boar to start. The Semogue 620. Small but very nice boar. Soft as any badger since it's so well broken in. Has no problem making lather out of any soap.

My one "oops" of the shave was in the very beginning. I've used synthetics so much over the past couple of years that I'm very used to walking in to shave, filling the mug with hot water, dipping the brush for about 15 seconds and loading away. Natural brushes need a bit more time to soak. So, a delay in the beginning to give the brush about 10 minutes to get ready. Something I'll have to remember all month. Three full passes to a very near-BBS. Fantastic feeling shave, no heat at all from the alum and a very enjoyable change of pace.

Saturday looms!! Sunday is supposed to bring snow and lots of it to the Lou. It is March, right?

I normally use a mild razor on a Saturday morning due to Friday's evening shave but I thought I'd carry on with my vintage OC DE run.
With the New Improved head I think Gillette have come pretty close to perfecting the DE OC.
A two pass irritation free, DFS+ shave ensued, my skin is relaxed and I'm refreshed.
    Happy Shaving one and all.

Good Morning Folks. This mornings shave was done with my fathers 1952 Gillette Black Tip Super Speed. Along with a 1946 Gillette Blue Blade.

    Cold Water Wash
    Col. Conk Amber
    Jayaruh #321
    Luxor Pro Master
    Derby Premium
    CWR
    Barbasol Brisk AS

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #321 brush. I did two passes with the Luxor Pro Master razor with a Derby Premium blade and with the exception of removing a patch of skin, ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Barbasol Brisk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
