March Madness!! March 2 Razor - Edwin Jagger DE89l Blade - (2) Soap - Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum Brush - Omega 10066 Post - Alum I was talking earlier to Chris @Bama Samurai , who sends his greetings, by the way, and it was 12F degrees in Colorado. That's the weather we have heading for us in the next 48 hours with snow. Yay. Oh well, a shave will make me feel better. Second night of Mild March Madness and the EJ DE89l and Big Ben are still up. Soap is Jeeves Bay Rum and the small Omega boar is the brush. Lather was not an issue. Jeeves handles well with any brush and even my lack of use of the boar didn't make it difficult. The Big Ben is not a horrible blade by any means, but it isn't Russian steel either. A bit rough but not so much you can't still enjoy the shave. At least so far. Three passes, a little heat to the alum but not much. No blood and near-BBS finish is the payoff and I feel better already. Let it snow! Have a great Sunday!
SUNDAY'S SHAVE Bath Soap - Early American Old Spice Bubble Bath and matching Bar Soap circa 1930's Razor - Gillette Superspeed (circa 1947-1952) (Re-plated in Nickel Finish by Razor Emporium) Blade - *4th shave Shave Brush - Vigshaving Nylon Synthetic Shave Soap - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices Aftershave - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices Deodorant - Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - Cold Spices Fragrance - Vintage Shulton - Early American Old Spice circa 1930's I chased a bit after a BBS and needed to use the matching Early American Old Spice Talc Powder that came with the set to prevent a little razor rash near my Adam's apple on the left side (my usual trouble spot that is the most easily irritated place during a shave). The talc works remarkably will to prevent a a red skin reaction and calm the skin. The shave came out fantastic otherwise and the scent of this classic is my highest ranking Old Spice scent because of the 'elegant' aspect to it. The men's Shulton version is more gruff and is a great everyday type scent, but the Early American Old Spice has an 'upscale' vibe to it and still is plenty masculine in my opinion despite that it originally was aimed at women in the 1930's. I don't really detect any feminine aspect to the scent other than that 'classy' vibe. I actually consider this scent way more masculine than feminine and I'm surprised Old Spice wasn't kept exactly like it was, but then again, perhaps Shulton wanted a 'rugged' aspect to the men's version to appeal to the masses. I consider this fragrance a masterpiece in the same vein as the classic Shulton men's version we all know.
Tommy, I do not believe any vendors here in the US sell Calani. I was going through a box I had in storage looking for some pics of a Bahama Cruise my daughter and I took 10 years ago and came across 3 boxes of NOS Calani: Dubai, Gentleman and Oriental Plum. I bought these way back in 2013 just before I moved from St. Louis to Boise and had forgotten about them. This will be the first time using Calani. I bought these from a gent from another forum in 2013 who bought multiple Coloni soaps while on business trip to Germany and sold some of his backups for others to try out. Sunday starts at least two weeks, maybe the whole month of soaps that I have from Artisans' no longer selling shave soaps/creams, soaps no longer produced by major brands or soaps that I have not been in my rotation in over a year.
Tommy, I was disappointed with the new Sandalwood offering from PAA and with the Old New Stock of AOS being my favorite, how does the Fine santal aroma compare to AOS? I was thinking of possibly trying Fine or even Semogue Sandalwood.

It's a pretty smooth operator but, imo, not a patch on the original TTO, the MMOC . Still, it was a wonderful way to start a wet and grey day. Happy Shaving one and all.

SE Sunday's Shave Cold Water Wash Col. Conk Amber Jayaruh #321 Gem Jr. Bar Vintage Gem Cutlery CWR Barbasol Brisk AS My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Col. Conk Amber Shave Soap face lathered well with the Jayaruh #321 brush. I did two passes with the Gem Jr. Bar Lather Catcher razor with a Vintage Gem Cutlery blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Barbasol Brisk AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...
I do not know you, my friend. But, I know that we are all His children. So, that makes you my brother. Fight the good fight. You’ll be in my prayers. I leave you with one of my favorite biblical verses of all time...... “But those who wait for the Lord, will renew their strength. They will mount up with wings like eagles. They will run, and not be weary. They will walk, and not feint.” Isaiah 40:31
