The steam makes the epoxy brittle so it little just breaks out. No need for drastic measures with silicone. Usually a soak in hot water allows me to pull those knots out with ease.

It would work on the vintage 400 handles as well if they have a knot set with modern epoxy. Modern resins can take the heat and more importantly the knots are set in epoxy which reacts to the steam. Vintage 400 handles have the knots set in a rubber like substance that is impervious to steam or heat and has to be drilled out. The vintage handles like the Ever Ready series have knots set in some white substance that has to be drilled out. Steaming will cause the handles to bulge and crack.

I thought it might be have been you Charlie. I am giving it a try on the free version. I plan on logging my meals and such but not the sodium. I use the iPhone for logging my weights as well.

    Brass General
    Feather Pro
Shavemac ATG LE D01 2 band
    Savonniere du Moulin
    Myrsol Antesol

It has been quite sometime since I have used the General so I decided to give it a go. The big Flat Top loaded and lathered with ease. This brush has by far the most backbone of any brush I own or have tried. The Shavemac D01 2 band is an acquired taste with its firmness and scrub. For me the brush is a face lathering dream. I had forgotten how smooth the Feather Pro/General combo feels while still being efficient. I went with a 3 pass shave, ATG, XTG and ATG followed by buffing on my lower right neck ending in a perfect shave. A splash of mentholated witch hazel followed by Myrsol Antesol and I feel fantastic. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Here is a quick followup to Dr. Sana vs. Superior 70. I just opened my last bottle of it and went to get one for stock. I have been a fan of S70 and unfortunately my local purveyor was unable to get it last time. Instead, he had Dr. Sana on the shelf. The bottle itself is identical. The product is similar, but Dr. Sana is stronger with more staying power and a bit of yellow dye added as well. Superior 70 doesn't list the ingredients. I am not sure if the difference in strength has anything to do with the age of my Superior 70, but I don't think so. Anyway, here is a quick picture showing the difference of the two.

Well I finally coordinated my Dovo 91 Sunday Shaver with the correct day of the week and does it ever make me feel better.
I know it's bad form to talk about stropping, so look away if it bothers you.
I was stropping the Dovo last evening and put a minuscule nick in my strop...:angry019:
One of these days, I am going to try a sanding restore. What do have to lose?
New soap today. Hemingway Accoutrements Shave Crème.
Excellent soap, with some wonderful skin-nourishing properties.
Lathering can be with or without a brush. (Without :signs002:, who are they kidding?)
The B5 created an unctuous, creamy lather. The soap accepts quite a bit of H2O.
    Results:
    IMG_9511.jpeg
The scent is very powerful and is closely reminiscent to Small Batch Shave Tonic.

I just happen to have a bottle of the juice, thanks to the generosity of a certain @ram57
The Dovo 91 truly glided over my skin with this lather. Not a hint of drag---even in the ATG pass.
The container has 120ml (4.2oz) and I used approximately 2.5ml (1/2 t) to create what you see above.
If I do my math correctly, that's about 48 shaves, calculating usage in a rotation of about 55 soaps,
that would mean Haley's Comet will return, before I finish the tub. :happy097:
The usual DFS results, with some light remaining stubble on my neck area. Oh well.
    Maybe someday.
Maybe someday, I'll win the lotto too.
Hope everyone has a terrific Sunday.

Great, and unique, looking gear,Keith. You pull out some original stuff, that’s for sure. Glad to hear the razor didn’t claim another victim!
Nice haul, Danny! Love the scent of SDM for sure.
Great pic as always. Sounds like a few razors that I have too, Jim- Fun mild razors
that take 3 full passes plus a little touch up, but never irritate.
It is guaranteed? Whew, that is very comforting to know.
You are mixing in some Far Side with the Calvin, Charlie? Excellent choices!
Sounds like another winner, Jim, congrats.
The only Tom Ford dupe that I have that I am aware of is Fine Fresh Vetiver, and it is nice as well.
Very cool. It appears, as others have opined as well, that it is a fairly standard looking DE head, but with the handle sticking out the side rather than the bottom of the baseplate. Does it shave as such, Perry?
Have fun with the family, Gary...I hope they enjoy Tabac!
Very interesting points about the Shavemac. Do you feel that the flattop profile has something to do with? Or the setting depth? Or is it just that much stiffer than other Shavemacs.

Thank, Jason! That seems about right, but the blade doesn't curve like when tighten down a DE. The blade is completely flat. It's fairly mild like a DE would be but the strange handle adds a little complexity.

Charlie is busy (i.e. slow) waxing the jet, Bruce. Unfortunately, this is what they give you for a loaner in Kentucky, so you may want to give @Keithmax a ring...

Explanation for those of you in Kentucky: This is a reference to a line in a Shakespeare play... no, not the fishing rod, the writer... never mind... nothing to see here, move along.

I have no idea what you are talking about, but I’m thinking pictures would help. Anyway, I’ll play along: HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEATER GUY @Drygulch!

Thanks, Jason! When using the S1 last March I was getting plenty of hot spots from the alum. What a difference a year makes.
