I have no idea what could have caused it. I have tapped one on the faucet and had it chip before, but this is confusing me.

Great pic, Paul. Sorry to hear about the blade. That isn’t common, is it?

Aggressive for DE/SE: the blade exposure and the range of angles you can use and still cut whiskers. The wider the range, the more I can fine tune my shave. I would also add blade feel adds to the sensation of aggression.

Aggressive for all razors, an angle so steep the risk of irritation increases. When using a straight or aggressive DE/SE I will adjust my angle based on the pass and location of my face.

Sometimes a razor just feels aggressive but ther is no difference in the true level of irritation risk. My example is a very thin hollow grind vs a near wedge straight razor. The hollow grind feels more aggressive to me, I will wait for Charlie’s explanation on this one.

I think Declan's look of joy is a good omen. Good luck!

    Get well quickly.

I used to think I had a tough beard and sensitive skin. After switching to 'traditional shaving' I think I have a moderately tough beard and normal skin. I no longer think I have sensitive skin, it was my horrible skills and the multi-blade razor irritating my skin.

Chris at RazorPlate.com does a really nice job, Terry. He plated a NEW SC for me (don't have it anymore), and he was a pleasure to work with.

I'm with you on the sensitive skin, I thought the same. Daily shaving was out of the question and never even considered going atg. What a revelation traditional shaving has been.

Keith, could a thin hollow-grind blade chatter more during the shave compared to a heavier grind? If so, this could feel like a more aggressive shave. That's just a thought off the top of my head. I'll have to check my physics books to be sure. :D

This is a photo @Linuxguile shared with me showing the serial number of a Single Ring. According to http://www.razoremporium.com/gillette-date-codes/, this one was manufactured in 1911. I hope this helps, Terry. :)
