IMG_1799.jpg Not feeling super chipper this morning, but an improvement on yesterday for sure. First use of this soap, PIF'ed by Perry. I ordered the Stirling Baker Street AS to match, but it won't be here until next week and I didn't want to wait that long to try the soap.
Don't know what I was thinking- forgot to soak the brush in the mug by the sink while I was in the shower this morning. Stared right at it and thought it was a synth. Gave it a minute or so of soaking afterwards, but that seemed to be enough. Loaded for about 30 seconds (no need to be subtle on first use) and took it to the face directly. This soap took a tonne of water, as much as Barrister's Reserve soaps, which are usually my thirstiest Artisan soaps. The quality of the lather was very good. Love this scent. Full disclosure- I've been using a Stirling Baker Street Shampoo bar for about a month and have ordered more. The scents are close to one another, yet subtlely different as well. I am very smooth again after 3 passes. Did get one weeper on the edge of my mouth getting too confident and going truly ATG between my lip and nose, but I can live with that.
Finished with the Fine AS. A close match? Nope. A great way to end a shave? Absolutely. I think one more day with the Blackhawk tomorrow and then I'll move on. For those of you who use an Artist Club Safety Razor, how many shaves do you get on one of these blades? Today was the first day I noticed that it is dulling a bit. Will be just fine for tomorrow, though.
    Have a great day, all!

Great picture, Jason! I hope you feel better.

I usually get over 10 shaves, and have gotten as many as 20 on one of those blades.

Beautiful photo, Jason! Glad the Baker Street soap worked well for you. I thought the Strop Shoppe scent was heavier on the peppermint aspect whereas the Stirling scent was more juniper. Very similar scents between the original and the Stirling version, but they're not exactly the same.

Great picture, Jason! Glad your starting to feel better.
I notice a drop in performance on shave six on my AC blades. I don't go for a seventh.

Great pic and report, Rick. Between you and Neal it sounds like that soap does well in a bowl. I have found something similar with my Barrister's Reserve soap. A few triple milled pucks I have I find it easier to get the lather I want on my face, fwiw.
Beautiful single ring, Terry! The two Old Types I have owned have been Ball Ends, I love the look of those single ring handles.
You are right about that splash, Perry. If I ever pared my Splashes down (hey, at this point, less than 15 would be epic) it makes the cut for sure. My favourite Jeeves scent.
Awesome is good! Enjoy your day, Danny.
Keep the Far Sides coming, Charlie! I trust your wife's appointment will go well today.
Do you keep a mild safety razor at your disposal for semi-rushed mornings, Joe? Keith's advise is sound on this!
Sounds like a great start to the day. I walked into a L'Occitane store a year or so ago, but didn't buy anything. Maybe I should have. The pucks seem to be quite a bit more reasonably priced than the creams and balms.
Very nice, Jim. When you say 'A little CL', I know what you mean. It is a pricier splash, but such a little amount goes a long way.
Love the Reserve Spice, Jim. I notice that the juice in the newer bottles appears to be clear. Mine in the older bottles is bright red (and the cool is bright blue). Glad to see they went away from the unnecessary dyes.
Perfect is good! Enjoy your time at home, Brian.

    MdC~~CH2~~Boker~~Agua Lavanda Puig
    SR #37

Inspiration for this shave came from Roger @Hodge today.
Was going in another direction, but had an urge for some really great lavender.
Simpson CH2 Synthetic tore up some MdC and lathered very well.
This soap can really take on some H2O.

Stropped the Boker and went to work.
Stropping question: My fingers slide down the razor and I have to "re-grip" after about 10 laps.
I am thinking I need to get a firmer hold with my middle, ring and pinky fingers.
    Suggestions?

I have however managed to figure out a good grip to get better closeness on the left side of my neck.
    Now to the right...
Agua Lavanda Puig was one of Ol' Blue Eyes' favorite scents. I can see why.
    Short 'n sweet today.

    Yup, love the Spice!
The newer aftershaves are clear. There were a lot of complaints about the addition of dyes in the early versions.

I am glad you are feeling a bit better Jason. Wonderful photo as usual. The SS Baker Street was a fantastic smelling soap. I hate that they went out of busienss.

Thank you Jason. I am pretty sure the Cade will be on my buy again list.

Those AC blades are relatively thick, so they have some staying power. Although, I think my record was 21 shaves on a DE blade once. For DE blades, I really don't worry too much, but I will stretch out the AC blades more.
