Everything worked as it should this morning. I much prefer this APShaveCo flattop to the Tuxedo version from DS Cosmetic. More loft (longer bristles) is the difference. I've had a good run with the Blackhawk, and am getting consistent shaves with it, but it is time to give something else a run after 7 shaves. I'll probably come back to it later this month. Blade is still ok, but like a lot of you opined, 7 shaves gets you ready to think about another piece of steel.
I've been getting good lathers from this soap. This came generously from John @Screwtape last year. We've done quite a few trades back and forth, but for this soap, I just mentioned one day on here that I was going to pick up a tub of it and John replied that he would just send this to me instead. Another great 30DC gesture.
    Have a great day, all!

I just looked back and I see I've been using this bar of pre shave soap with every shave since mid May. It's going to easily make a year.

Round 1, Match 2: Noble Otter - The Noir et Vanille vs Central Texas Soaps - Mr. Pepper.

Shave 1 OVERYIME: Noble Otter - The Noir et Vanille

    The Setup:
    Razor: Merkur 34C
    Blade: Feather Stainless
    Brush: Perfecto Pure Badger
    Mug: Henry Cavendish
Post Shave: Witch Hazel and Cetaphil

I couldn't let Noble Otter go down with out giving them another shot. So here we are in overtime.

You can see in picture 2 that I spread a good portion of soap on the bottom of the mug. I made sure my brush was damp and not soaked before starting my lather process. I added water a few drops at the time and worked the soap well. Lathered my face and continued to add soap to the brush when I felt like it was getting dry. The lather still broke it down a little bit. However, today's lather was much better than the first attempt. The soap was very slick this time. Massive improvement there.

I wanted to diagnose the unstable lather, so at the end of my shave I added more water to my mug and tried to build more. I was able to get another round of good thick lather. I guess I'm not adding enough water to begin with? Any ideas, Vets?

WTG, XTG, and some touchup for a very DFS.

Let me say again that I really enjoy the scent of this soap!

Noble Otter - The Noir et Vanille OVERTIME
    Slickness: 8
    Ease of Lather: 6
    Post shave feel: 7
    Scent strength: Light TO MEDIUM

Shave 2 will be Central Texas Soaps - Mr. Pepper on Sunday.

I should add and big thanks to @Primotenore and @Linuxguile for your guidance. Primo, I will try to face lather next time. Wanted to keep the process the same for the tourney.

    Have a great Friday everybody!

A bit of a celebratory shave this morning. I picked one of my favorite scent profiles in Executive Man and Fine Platinum. I added three drops of M-Bomb to my lather bowl as I whipped up the Stirling into the amazing, shiny, creamy, slick, super goop lather that it is capable of. Wonderful smelling lather with a mid level menthol chill. On its final outing, before I return to EDRIO, the Blackbird/ Wizamet combo completed its run of near perfect shaves all week. I finished with some Stirling Glacial Unscented PSB followed up by a double spray of Fine Platinum! Have a great weekend my friends!

Much better Luke! Many soaps can take a lot more water if you work it in slowly rather then drowning them at the begining.
