Thank you very much. Tried something a little different with the transparent green. I like it - my wife feels I should have went carbon black... tough critic.

SUNDAY'S SHAVE Razor - Gillette Red Tip Superspeed circa 1955-1960 (Re-plated in Satin-Nickel Finish and re-painted tip in Radiant Red color by Razor Emporium.) Blade - *Fresh Blade Shave Brush - Ever-Ready 1960's vintage (Polished and re-knotted with a 26mm Ubersoft II knot from Envyshave by Razor Emporium.) Shave Stand by by Desire Metal Works Suds - Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Original" Cream (Made in India) *I dried it out for months into a hard soap. Aftershave - Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Classic" Deodorant - Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Classic" Fragrance - Proctor & Gamble Old Spice "Classic" This is, IMO, the best time of year for the Proctor & Gamble Old Spice version. Due to it not being warm just yet, the opening synthetic florals don't annoy/cloy and when it dries down at the 3 hour mark to the more mellow smells it really works. I also really enjoy Shulton's antique Early American Old Spice now and in the early/mid Spring due to its citrus notes. The classic men's Shulton version is the best version for Autumn and winter for me. It's going to smell quite nice tomorrow. ***EDIT - 2-pass + light touch-up. Solid shave. I went without any pre-shave or post-shave skin products and opted for a genuine classic shave with just soap/water/aftershave. The hard soap (formerly cream), works extremely well. When the shave was over I squeezed out the remaining lather from the brush after the shave for a hand test and it's a spectacular 9 out of 10 in terms of slickness and protection with a tad of residual slickness, but it's only performance ding is that the residual protection isn't as good as the best soaps/creams. But in terms of the main performance it is as great as anyone could want from a soap. Also, when the cream is dried into a solid soap in the mug, I'm able to get greater bang for the buck in that the soap is stretched out in more uses and there is less waste. It takes a bit more than 2 months to get it dry enough to use, but it really gets hard like a hard soap around 3-4 months of drying. Also, having a hard soap in the mug makes it more fun to shave with and makes it a true vintage shave.

March Madness!! March 9 Razor - Schick Krona Blade - (1) Soap - Proraso Red (Sandalwood) Brush - Stirling 24mm Finest Badger Fan Knot Post - Alum Let's put the Zorrik to bed for a bit before bringing it back in a shavette at some point and move on to the Zae blade. Surely Japanese steel, even if not from the "big two", will perform better. Of course, I had to challenge it with the mildest of the mild, the Schick Krona. The Krona comes in at the second smallest blade gap of only .021". For the curious, the smallest gap is on the Merkur Progress on setting 1 which is an amazingly small .015". For the Gillette fans, the Krona is slightly smaller gapped than the Gillette Tech, which comes in at .022". Yeah, they're that close. The head geometry is a bit different so the Krona, to me at least, feels a lot milder than the Tech and requires a more precise angle to do the job. Assuming the Zae blade is Japanese sharp this should be a good pairing. I've never used the Zae before but I'm assuming. Proraso Red and the Stirling badger for lather. So did I assume correctly with this blade? Yes and no. It's sharp, but not Feather or Kai sharp. Still it's definitely smoother than the Zorrik, though not Feather or Kai smooth. I made three full passes with the razor and did end up with a very nice DFS as a result. I had to work to get enough lather for the third pass as I clearly under-loaded the brush. I need to slow down and remember a badger is not a synthetic. Give it some time to get the soap into the brush. Not a bad shave overall and certainly better than the past two. Now.....will the Zae last three shaves? That's yet to come. Don't forget to set your clocks ahead tonight! Of course, in computer and phone lands, that happens automatically. I got the dining room clock and the appliance clocks all reset so it should be good to go in the morning. Have a great Sunday!
