Thank you Guys. The patient is home and in bed. Right now the biggest challenge is getting ahead of the pain curve. With luck the pain pills will start to work soon. She should be on crutches around 4 weeks. Her hip should ultimately return to about 75% of what is was before the first injury. We are all hoping and praying that bone spurs were the source of the ongoing pain.

Soviet engineering at its finest. One out of every few items actually work and do what they're supposed to. Example - this razor and not several others. Another example - the Consul razor. Another example - every Soyuz spacecraft since they sent #1 screaming back to earth...oh wait....that was the cosmonaut screaming back to earth inside the Soyuz 1 on his way to obliteration. Interesting looking razor there John! Glad it worked for you.

Yes, a new Bergischer-Löwe is priced at $300-$350. It is too expensive for me. When I buy a straight, I look at price, quality and aesthetics, in that order. Price doesn't always dictate a quality razor. I have bought 4 vintage razors averaging $60 a piece, my used Boker King Cutter was $78, my 2 brand new Dovos were under $100 each and my 2 Ralph Austs were $115(used) and $139(new). Every razor in my den shaves beautifully and as you can see, I did not pay a lot to have a set of 9 straights. Again, choosing a straight razor depends on what is important to you.

    Razor: Colonial Razor The General
    Handle: ATT Kronos
    Blade: Kai Captain Sharpblade
    Brush Handle: WildWest Brushworks
    Knot: Boss
    Soap: MDC Agrumes
Post Care: Stirling Unscented Witch Hazel
    Alum
    Aftershave: Shave Ship Armada Blossom

I had a pretty good shave tonight. I pulled out the WildWest brush tonight (Go Buckeyes) and it easily whipped up a beautiful lather. Everything was going great until the blade touched my face. Now, this blade isn't horrible but compared to the Feather Pro it isn't in the same league. The alum at the end of the shave told the story, I felt some burn here and there where with the Feather the alum was silent. The shave ended beautifully, the Armada Blossom is wonderful, I wish this was still in production. Overall a decent shave, we'll try another blade next shave. Have a great day folks!

Thanks Bruce! It's a solid chunk. I tried to weigh it, but my little credit card sized scale wasn't having it. Steve did I great job designing and machining that one & his R-400 replica.
Very cool Terry. Repairs like that keep the vintage units on line. A couple of photos, a paragraph or two of instructions and you've got a tutorial thread.
I looked them up, still available though I don't remember paying this much. Having both mild & aggressive sides on one 3 piece adds to the utility.
