  3. I think there is someone on YouTube who straight razor shaves with his eyes closed. Maybe I should try it. Lol!

  5. There is grass there alright, Doug. Just give it to mid April and you’ll get to see it...
Did you ever see the TFS labels with 1940s Pin up Girls? Worlds apart from Uncle Walter or the magician/back to the future guy from Mastro Miche.
Another great write up, John. Are you going to follow your own advice and use The Fat for a daily run?
Yup, the good news is that you get to try again tomorrow!
Sounds like you have a bit of a project on your hands with that razor, Terry! Darn Near Perfect works for me everytime.

  7. I'm sorry to hear that. I have some other razors with grungy finishes I was thinking of sending there -- a Gillette Old Type and a NEW LC, etc. Oh well, for the modern gun coatings, there's still North Shore Razors in Hawaii (at least as far as I know, they are still in business...)

MOON Old School Tallow SS sample
    B-400 by @twhite, Omega Pro 98 knot
    Suribachi bowl and cool water
Lutz slant DE, Gillette Silver Blue
    Pinaud Clubman AS lotion
SOTD 03122019 Moon Old School.gif I've seen a couple of TSD members using MOON soaps lately. I confess to instigating, but with reservations. Member Zachary @KUSTOM had applied for Supporting Vendor status and was waiting for approval, since then granted. He asked if I wanted to try his soap and offer a review. To avoid the appearance of any conflict of interest I offered to recommend several TSD members to receive and review. Since then I've noted a couple more tubs of soap in SOTD reports. Good soap? Let me tell you about it! Zack and I had discussed Proraso's Single Blade soap in a bag. He offered to drop a sample in the mail, and sent a nice sized sample of Old School, Havana (currently sold out), & Amaretto. Today the Old School got it's day in the bowl. I smeared a sugar cube sized lump of the semisoft soap into the textured bowl already wet from soaking the boar brush. Lather built easily. After adding a fair bit of water it still seemed like it would take more but I didn't want to break it. Light on scent but a well blended "tobacco, vetiver, leather, mahogany and sweet vanilla" that a preview sniff told me would compliment Clubman AS. Not airy or dissipating, decently dense and glossy. Three passes of the vintage slant didn't use it all up so I lathered again for that fiddly fourth catching the hollows and corners. Nice slip and residual as hoped for from tallow soap! The scent didn't linger after rinsing but the post shave face feel is good. A splash of Pinaud to finish brought the Old School back to my nose. Thanks Zack!
    Good Shaves Y'all!
