Nice report, Luke! With the Reserve base I always start off with a wetter than usual brush and only a fifteen to twenty second load. If the brush was wet enough no need to add more water but I usually end up having to dip the tips of the brush once or twice to create the lather I'm after. Top tier soap once you get it dialed in. Good luck!

    Razor - RazoRock Wunderbar Slant
    Blade - [IMG] (2)
    Soap - Moon Old School
Brush - Stirling 24mm Badger Fan
    Post - Alum

Let's drive this slant again just for fun, shall we? Still the Wilkie blade and I've chosen the Moon Old School for that uber-tallow lather along with the Stirling badger. Took about 30 minutes to load and an easy face lather was the reward. Nice! I was instantly pleased again with the smoothness of the shave tonight. Between the razor and the nice German blade it's tough to know there's a blade on your face. You can hear it cutting, but you don't feel it. I stayed with just two passes tonight, partly to test the razor and partly because I'm off tomorrow so who really cares anyway, right? My Doctor won't care and the lunch with the Spectrum guys is a reward for me so I don't care if I look that good or not. Besides - I'm not trying to date them, which is quite good news for my wife.

Two passes and I believe the mythical baby is in the house again. Easy shave, pleasant shave, and maybe a slant is a gimmick - but if it is - it appears to have some real world application. I'm liking everything about this razor. Hope your Wednesday is a good one!

Weber grills are the only way to cook. Never tried a Weber razor though so I'll take your word on that one. Anyone who grills on Weber is trustworthy in my book.

I do get good lathers from Reserve, but it is its own beast for sure. Loading less product (15 sec load or so) and then water added slowly, in a bowl, works for me.
IIRC, there is no menthol in the soap, only in the splash.

Delta Echo is no more? Wow. Things move fast in this biz don't they. Well, my Delta Echo New LC just became a collector's item. I was considering finding another Fatboy to have them do their magic on so I'd have one "authentic" and one "super charged". Guess not.

I do love seeing the old gear perform like it was designed to. It's hard to find that kind of quality anymore in most things.

For a high quality modern gun coatings on your razor, there's still North Shore Razors in Hawaii which has an excellent reputation for that work. Looks like I will be sending my Old Type, NEW LC and Fathandled Pre-War Tech to them at some point... (all definitely non-minty user grade btw).

200 posts behind, I will have to catch up later. Also nic today.

The shave gods took umbrage with my arrogance, today the lather was a struggle and the edge was not smooth and sharp as usual. After the 3rd pass I remembered the advice I give, I put down the straight and picked my R41 which fortunately was loaded and did the 4th pass.
