The photos show the tub of The Fat today after my shave compared to March 4 before I started using it again after a long period of disuse. As you can see, the puck has swelled significantly from the regular additions of water. The difference shows how in the ease of loading -- at first, I did 40 to 50 swirls on the puck to get the brush fully loaded and the lather creamy instead of airy; now, about a dozen swirls gets me a brush ready to face lather.

I managed my usual two passes to a DFS today. No need to test with the alum. No real need for the splash either -- as I use The Fat regularly, I am also noticing the great postshave feeling the lanolin leaves behind. Really the only thing The Fat lacks that some of the artisan soaps offer is a great scent profile...

Hope everyone is doing well as we bump over the Hump of the week!

It’s a shame that the pain meds aren’t doing much to ease the pain for her. She’s certainly a tough girl. Glad to hear that she’s doing better overall, though.

Great photos and report, John. It’s amazing how much the MWF shrinks when it sits unused.

    March 13

    Weber DE
    Rapira Super Stainless (3)
30 Day Crew LE figured maple handle w/APShaveCo Tuxedo knot
Third Pass Shaving Co. Active Duty
Alum, Thayers WH, USB, Pinaud Clubman & Aramis

I completed two passes with my Weber DE loaded with smooth and sharp Russian steel. The 30DC LE brush whipped up a slick, protective lather from the Third Pass Shaving Co. Active Duty Soap (thanks @Douglas Carey). It's a lightly scented tallow soap that is a pleasure to use. Everything fell together, as expected, for a near BBS shave.

Things are starting to come together on our upcoming move. Boxes are getting filled, and we've made a couple of trips to Goodwill. We plan to close on the new house during the last week of April. If we stay on schedule, we'll start moving the small items immediately thereafter, and we have a couple of movers scheduled for May 4 to move the big items. If needed, we'll finish moving the small items and unpacking the following week. Since we have the time, we'll plug at it a little each day until we're finished moving and unpacking. Our goal is to be settled in the new house by mid-May. We're also taking baby steps with prospective buyers toward the sale of our current home. It's a busy/fun time!

I hope everyone had a fantastic day!

It's definitely a movie worth seeing, Terry. Who knows? Maybe some of the straight razors and Gillette Single Rings we see here on the forum were used during WWI. There were several film clips showing the soldiers using straight razors. Each soldier had a razor and brush in their pack.
