  1. The new B&M base is excellent, Jason. Easy to lather, probably the slickest in my den and great post shave feel.
We haven't had a whole lot of snow this winter but it still feels like too much. Yesterday's storm was scary. Zero visibility several times on my drive home. Just hoping the car in front of me doesn't stop because I can't or I'll get hit by the vehicle behind me. All the time hoping I'm staying in my lane because the shoulder of the road is no longer visible. I'll take mowing the lawn any day.

  2. Looking good Mr. Fancy Pants. One of these days I'll try the dark side.
  3. Glad you are safe. I have never driven in that situation before but I have drove in fog that was almost as bad.

  4. Thanks, Jason! It's fun to see how many shaves you get from each soap. My current puck of Mitchell's Wool Fat has over 80 shaves on it with no end in sight. My first Mitchell's ended after 64 shaves. Guess I'm being a miser on loading this puck.

  7. I know. The last couple of times that I've really looked at DE razors and blades at a Dollar Store, it seemed like a race to the bottom. Kind of like what happens when the lowest bidder gets its merchandise from the lowest bidder.

At least these, so far, seem like a usable blade unlike, say, the Curley brand ones.

I do wonder why they ditched Dorco, though...

  10. Oh, hell no! Buying DE blades at a dollar store is convenient for small/emergency purchases but is one of the more expensive ways to buy blades (the worst being someplace like Walgreens). Basically, you're looking at a tuck of five for $1 or $0.20/blade. If you buy Russian steel, particularly in multiples of 100, the per blade cost comes down to pennies.
  11. Or...... I could join his shave forum and talk about that 'garbage plastic doodad' Focus Dynamic R48 1/2 DE Single Edge Razor that he has never used......
Then he could throw me out.

Did I say, never mention that shaving device?

Oh, and don't even talk about it.

  12. Oh....I had forgot about that conversation and then you got the "block" but I thought he was kidding.
  13. I would almost bet my paycheck, such as it is, that it's a cost cutting measure. Family Dollar has severely underperformed in the past year or so and that's dragging Dollar Tree down since they bought them. They are closing several hundred FD stores this year, so anything they can do to pay less for stuff they sell is probably on the table. Including dropping down to Chinese manufactured goods. Even though quality might suffer. Which, of course, could put consumers off of buying even more, which could create continuing revenue issues, which.......well, you get the idea.

  14. Danny, I would concur! A super great shave deserves a 98. It is rare to get a mark that high, but it is fantastic when you attain that marvelous shave! You studied very well for your shaving skills test. Congrats Danny!
