Since finding an original case would probably cost too much, I decided to make my own. I recently bought a wood box from China, and although not exact in measurements, it was close enough. I did think about replicating the plastic inserts, but it was just taking too long and I just really didn't like how it was going. This is what the box originally looked like (sellers image)......... I then painted the box black, masked off the lines I needed to replicate from the original, and made up a decal of the name. That was actually a bit hard as getting a good pic of it wasn't easy. The black background that was reproduced wasn't black enough as every other way I did it, the gold looked yellow and I had to hand paint between the letters to make it better.......... So after abandoning the idea of replicating the original inserts, I remembered I had an insert from a Gillette case and decided to somehow use it. I had to remove some of the back side and modify the rest to make the razor more centered in the case and add a bunch of foam. All I needed for the top was some soft foam and line it. These are what I used to make the bottom insert.......... This is the top foam and bottom insert assembled with those parts.......... The next two pics are of it completed, maybe a bit more tweaking needed, and red cloth for the hinge cover to give it the look of the original and a reproduced instruction sheet.......... These two pics are of an original case for comparison......... EDIT: Have you ever finished something and just go sonofab......, you know what I mean. After posting this thread I realized I had a better material to use, a nice felt which was thicker and brighter. So I re-lined the case by gluing over the original material I used. I think it came out better and hiding the wrinkles of what I did before..........
Great work there. If you had not posted the photo's people would think and believe that you got the case from Gillette.
