  2. SOTD March 16, 2019

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Schick
    Razor: PAL Injectomatic
Brush: Ever Ready 100T restored badger
    Soap: Stirling Sharp Dressed Man
Post: Witch hazel, Stirling Sharp Dressed Man aftershave

St. Patrick's Day shave with Sharp Dressed Man. Fine lather and what a beautiful scent. I got a little careless with the Injectomatic around my chin and ended up with a couple of weepers. Saw the alum stick sitting on the shelf and decided to use it. Ouch! A fair amount of tickle. I've used alum maybe two or three times in the past. Just don't care for it. Not sure today converted me either. Think I'll just stick with witch hazel.

Anyway, a nice shave overall other than the couple of weepers. The PAL is certainly a different kind of injector. Very light and the angle seems more like a Mach 3 than a Schick. More experimentation is needed.

    Have a great weekend!

  4. Thank you, Doug! That is a restoration job by Clint. He PIFed that to me a while back and I really enjoy using it. Wonderful brush with rich history.

  7. Badger knot, but not sure of the specifics. Maybe @clint64 can fill us in.

  17. I’ve had some nice shaves lately. First ever use of an Astra SS blade (in my Merkur 34c). Nice blade! Probably the best I’ve tried yet.

I’m also learning what soaps my face prefers. Interestingly, I think I prefer Vegan to tallow, which is quite a shock. I’m pretty sure that the Caties Bubbles and Sterling Soaps and TOOBS creams (that I have) are vegan, and the B&M and Chiseled Face soaps I have are tallow based. I sense less cushion on the vegan soaps, but they seem to shave me closer. Face feel is case to case thus far. Tallow based might moisturize a little better, but I seem to need more passes with tallow to get the same results.

Honestly, Caties Tonsorial Parlour is the most vibrant scent I’ve experienced, and I love it. Get a great shave with this stuff. The TOOBS (coconut and grapeFruit)
aren’t the best smelling, but they might actually be the best shave/face feel of the bunch. I’m a huge scent guy, so maybe I’ll need to “super lather” Caties with TOOBS to achieve the perfect shave. Lol.

It’s just so interesting how different everything can be. YMMV, right? I’ve tried Mickey Lee, Chiseled Face, B&M, Caties, Stirling, TOOBS, Jack Black and Colgate soap puck. They’re all very high quality and perfectly sufficient, but Im getting the closest shaves with the Caties, TOOBS and Stirling.
  18. Can't argue with science. Bring on Zorrik shave # 3 in the Magic!

  19. I had to stop Paul. Dangerously close to an anti-SJW rant. I need to be setting the example, not getting called onto the carpet.
I note a lack of pie, as well.
Should we start working on a label?
