    Great shave, Terry!

A one pass shave isn't feasible for me. Not if I want a close shave. The hair on my face and neck grows in every direction imaginable and changes direction abruptly. Easier for me to do my usual three passes.

That first pass tends to get most of my average two days growth. If I was to hunker down and do 6 or 7 shave per week I might be OK with a one pass. From January's shavette Focus I stopped doing DE clean up mid month and could tell where I needed to up my technique game. I'm already WTG on 1st pass, but it's not all N to S since I have those odd directional growths like Jim's. Terry - is your one pass all N to S AND WTG?

Well no, see if I can splain this.
My cheeks get ear to lip sorta, the jaw gets SE to NW. Part of the neck gets N to S and part gets S to N. Part of the chin gets E to W and part gets S to N.....
    Kinda like that.

With a straight or shavette, 2 passes are fine for me. If I want BBS+, then 3 passes. I find that after I do my WTG first pass, I do an intermediate ATG/XTG second pass which are oblique strokes on my checks and jawline and parts of my neck. This gets me where I need to be and cuts down on the irritation. I rarely do ATG and XTG second and third passes respectively.

The days get busierer and busierer. I missed a couple days of shaving at the end of last week because I was too dang tired, and over the weekend we had my son's first travel ball basketball tournament so I decided not to get up the few minutes earlier I needed to in order to shave because the day was gonna be long enough already.

I finally managed to squeeze one in this morning. I found a tube of Speick cream in my travel bag I'd totally forgotten about and decided to give it a go. Scent? Aspercream time at the old folks home. Lather? Thick and cushy. If this lather were a woman, @wchnu would ask her out (scent aside). Grabbed my Dovo (my old nemesis) with a hair shaper blade and mowed the whole mess down in one tidy pass.

And my son's team, in their first tournament together (the team has only been together about three weeks and had never played a game as a team before this tournament) went 3-1 (good for 3rd place) and lost by single digits to an established team that ended up winning the tournament. All in all, a busy but fun weekend.[IMG]

    March Madness!!

    March 18

    Razor - 1959 (E4) Gillette Super Speed
    Blade - treet-platinum.jpg (1)
    Soap - D.R. Harris & Co. Marlborough
Brush - Stirling 24mm Finest Badger Fan
    Post - Alum

Back to shaving after my night off. Fairly busy day off today, got a few things done, a few I didn't, don't care that I didn't, so there! Back to my Mild March Madness focus for a couple of shaves and I grabbed the ultimate mild razor, the Gillette Super Speed. This is a birth year/quarter razor for me and has always been one of my favorites. As we've said ad nauseum, the Super Speed is one of the best Gillette made. Simple, effective, and seems to never wear out or even get close. I decided to go for a Treet blade and settled on the Treet Platinum. While many of their blades are still carbon steel, this one is a very nice stainless blade with platinum coating. I've always had great shave with this one.

Soap is the Marlborough stick from D.R. Harris and the Stirling badger had no problem at all face lathering. After three full passes I could have done another three and maybe more. Seemed like this soap and brush just kept building new lather with every pass as though there was a soap factory on my face. Three full passes, the baby is well on board, and that's the end of a pretty nice day off! I"ll try it again tomorrow!

Nice shave Neal!I feel like the Treet Platinum is one of the better non-Russian blades out there.

still going strong on the spoiler blades, smooth and sharp 9th shave no issues on this first blade. are these for real or am i just getting better technique in play?
