I recall being with some customers years ago when they were talking Rolex. I can't remember if it was one of them, but a story came up about someone wearing one while swimming in the ocean. I understand they were designed to withstand those conditions, but it didn't make sense to me.

I had a Citizen chronograph for many years I really liked. It possessed top functionality for me. Rubberized band and multiple alarms. When I was a road warriors, I could never get comfortable with wake up calls or hotel alarm clocks, and the band didn't get funky.

Can't remember for sure, but Mickey was probably the last one worn.

 

Don't draw a map. You've found your pattern and it works. Did you choose to get a successful one pass routine?

That what my current pattern is based on. It amounts to a three pass plus fiddling on my as yet still confounding trouble spots.

That soap is new to my eyes. One reviewer said, "notes like patchouli and vetiver, but sandalwood is the dominant base note". Sounds like good stuff.

 

its a soap that came out in 2015 for their 70th anniversary. one of my first purchases of their line. is nice stuff, very similar to the duro line of rr soaps a while back. scent is hard to describe, just nice. a great performer.. yesterdays news for many i think..

 

I find that I can cut down on the 'number of passes' by doing real quick 2nd and 3rd swipes on a given stroke.

I wonder how many folks do that.

 

March Slant Focus, Menthol Monday Edition

Proraso Green preshave soap
Proraso Green shave soap
Surrey/VDH boar brush
Suribachi bowl, cool water
Lutz Slant, Gillette Silver Blue
Proraso Green aftershave lotion
Nothing new in this mix, except for trying the Gillette Bar handle on the Lutz. Nice cooling and added slip from the preshave soap. Thick creamy lather from the tub. While C.O.Bigelow may be the same formula the semisoft tub beats it for longevity. Fresh GSB in the vintage German DE didn't give better or worse service with the different handle. I first tried the Grande handle from a Muhle R89 but the threads are not quite the same. Three passes, fiddling on the lower corners, DFS with little irritation. Splash of the AS capped a comfy procedure.

Knowing where I'm going to be doing that 4th pass, and enjoying soaps with good residual slickness, I do overlap or swipe again. Mostly near my ears under jawline.

 

i do quick swipes with my razors on certain spots , hence my combination type passes.

The old gillette 7 oclock is still going strong in the fatip piccolo, so in the meantime i thought id give the sharpest DE blade known to man a try in the aristocrat. I was really impressed with how easily the feather gave a baby smooth shave in the aristocrat, i was also impressed with how slick that col conk shave soap Jimbob sent is, so with this shave i didnt know which performed better!

Simpsons CH2 Chubby Synthetic Bristles brush
MWF/Kent in beechwood tub
Alum and Osage Rub

Usual Rule setup, except I changed up the splash for Menthol Monday. I swapped the spritzes of Polar Ice Booster splash for an eyewatering palmful of Osage Rub.

Citizens are super watches too! I bet yours was perfect for travel.

Rolex developed the first "waterproof" watch in 1926. It was called the "Oyster." A female British swimmer swam the English Channel in 1927 wearing an Oyster. It's a cool story, and Rolex continues to brand their water-resistant watches as Oysters.

The watch in the photo is the Submariner Date. It's an Oyster Perpetual because it has an automatic movement -- the watch stays wound by wrist movements. Certainly, it's no big deal to have an inexpensive watch with much better features today (G-Shock is a great example), but a lot of folks wear Submariners for the look and/or what the watch represents. You can have watches like these serviced, and if properly cared for, they can be passed down to future generations.


Stainless Rolex watches were developed to be used...tool watches. Unfortunately, they're expensive today, and a lot of folk fret over every scratch or ding. This gent decided to wear his watch the way it was intended...it shows how tough they really are.

Yes, a one pass shave never gets me to BBS. But it teaches the direction of hair growth, that's importaint to a good shave. If I get a great first pass, the rest is just touch up. I'm seeing that the first pass is the most importaint part of the overall shave and needs proper attention to detail.
If the first pass is done well, you can almost garentee the shave will be great. IMHO

Easy shave with the G1. Tobacco Tuesday software with Soap Commander Fortitude. What a terrific scent. Of course the performance of the soap was outstanding and the recent addition of aftershave splashes is a hit in my opinion. Very nice all around.

Well Rick, I just tried different ways till I found what direction to use on different parts.
Yes I did focus on a great one pass, didn't plan it, just sorta happened.
Now when I shave, I have myself trained to shave the correct direction whithout any thought.
Works for me.
