Morning all. My wife and I had a good V-Day. We watched a movie together for the first time in a loooong time.

Well... grading done, seat charts updated... Best Buy doesn't open until 10...

I guess I am going to kill some time.

Hmmmm... Guess I am going to see if I can tweak the wind generator (project for science olympiad). No, I am not building the kid's project. I am tweaking my own simultaneous project so that I can keep ahead of the kid's learning curve.

You must be a very dedicated teacher. You put in a lot of time on the weekends, that is dedication. My wife doesn't have to to the grading stuff as much because she teaches K-3 special ed. She goes in early and stays late but I am thankful she doesn't have to do the weekend stuff.

    Good morning

Why do I feel hung over when I didn't drink a thing?

Because it's too damn early to be awake. Go back to bed!

    Oh. G'morning Rodd.

I actually found one of those video sharing sites that works on this computer (Howvids I think) so I revisited some of Mantic's shave tutorials last night. Always good to go back and review the basics. There's a few things I think I'm going to tweak next shave as a result.

Anyway there was a new guy in a thread a few weeks ago talking about how he swirls his brush over a puck of soap for 3 secs. like Mantic and that's enough to load the brush. At the time I couldn't remember seeing that in his vids, but said to the guy I didn't see any way how 3 secs. of brush loading could be enough. Well you know last night I saw the clip where he mentions a 3 sec. swirl over a sopping puck of soap. He really didn't elaborate beyond that however. It looked like way too much water and not even close to enough soap to me? <shrug> Anybody else doing this 3 sec. swirl thing??? I'm going at least 20 secs. and sometimes more.

I don't grade on the weekends much 'cause I'm lazy. No, really I manage my time throughout the week so that I can reserve much of the weekend for other things. I did bring a couple of stacks of essays home to grade. :(

Yeah, I never thought 3 seconds was long enough for me either. I usually swirl about 10, depending on the soap.

I don't know if it is dedication as much as it is what works for me. I grade tests/labs on the weekends because there are too many distractions during the week for myself and the kids. I actually set up my classes so we take a test every Friday over what we did that week. When we do labs, they are often done on Wednesday and are due on Friday. Then, I get those graded over the weekend and back to them on Monday.

During the week, I have extracurricular stuff before and after school (I coach Science Olympiad, I am the middle school science department chairperson, and the 7th grade assistant team leader) Then by the time I am done with extracurriculars, I have to take my daughter to appointments 2-3 days a week. This leaves me little time for massive grading during the week. I do make up work and little stuff here and there through the week; however, I just plan to spend about 4 hours grading each weekend. It just easier on myself and my family this way.

Now I could just get everything done on Saturday. However, after 4 hours of Science Olympiad, it is pushing into time when my non-morning people family are ready to be up and doing things as a family. Hence, I leave after practice on Saturday to spend time with them. Then on Sunday morning while they are still cranky and/or sleeping, I go and get grading done. Then by the time I am back on Sunday morning, they are more ready to deal with me.

I am not a morning person. However, I get up early enough and keep busy and on the go enough that I often confuse people into thinking I am a morning person. Wife and daughter are certainly NOT morning people. :D

3 sec? HA! never... I load that brush until the sound changes and the brush has the pre-meringue look to it, then I go to my face. It probably takes 20-30 seconds on average. However, there are some soaps that can be done in 5-10, but then I have to reload the brush between passes.

That's what I thought. I'm not sure what he was going for when he recommends a 3 sec. swirl. He did have lots of water on the puck and brush so maybe that makes a diff. My brush and puck are much dryer than that when I load....not dry but damp. I twist and mash for a good amount of time and really load that baby w/ paste. I wouldn't consider it wasteful either as I generally use most of the lather I created.

I am most definitely not a morning person. I hate day shift. Hate getting up before the sun. Hate that foggy, sleepy feeling all day. No sir. I'm a creature of the night!

I can't do a 3 second but I can usually do a 10 or so second lather. Then straight to the face for a 2 minute or so face lathering session. I always seem to have enough for a 4 pass shave.

    Morning everyone.

I usually load for at lead 30 seconds, sometimes more depending on how big of a brush I am using.

    Java question...........Anyone have an aeropress?

    Hi Rodd,
do you like the aeropress? I have a french press, but it's kind of a pain to clean, I was thinking the aeropress would be qucker, and people seem to like it. Do you know a good place to buy it besides amazon.

I bought mine on Amazon, free shipping and all. I couldn't find a local retailer, although I have heard some coffee shops sell them.

I love it. It makes the best coffee I have had, and clean up is extremely simple. You can literally wipe off the parts with a paper towel, or rinse it off.

One thing that is different than making a french press is that it makes a kind of espresso. Very concentrated coffee, you then add hot water to make a regular coffee (Americano) or hot milk to make a late. I bought a Sunbeam Hotshot to go with it (at Target) so I heat the water, press the espresso and then top it off with the rest of the hot water. I can do it all at my desk at work. I highly recommend it.

Sounds like something I will like.

There is a local health food type store that sells it, but they are pretty expensive.

    Morning guys.

I ended up taking my mom to the casino last night. Not the one I work at as i can no play there. but one about 45 from there. She had a good time and got out of the house for a while.. we all came home with just a little more then we left with.

I over nighted at her place since my pop is out of town for the weekend. Do not like her being alone even though she is doing great.

Nice shave this morning though. I got a new case for a micromatic in so used it to bring with me.

I will be back on later hope all are good no time to catch up right now..... other then to say no way on 3 sec.
