I believe I used one of those one time along time ago so I can’t remember. But this thing shaves extremely well!
Took the 1955 Red Tip out for a shave this afternoon. If patchouli isn't your thing, you wouldn't like Glastonbury by Stirling Soap Company. Rumor has it it's been restocked and currently available.
I have looked around, and haven’t seen many silver New Gillettes. Is it just me or they are a lot less common than the gold version? I have seen plenty of gold ones.

The NEW Long Comb and Short Comb are primarily available in a gold wash. They do appear with a Chromium finish in a few of the sets as well as Nickel, but I have not seen one, to my recollection, in Silver. The New Improved can be found in Gold Wash, Multi-layer Gold or Triple-plated Silver, but that was during the Roaring Twenties when a steak dinner could run you $125-$150 and your final tab could be $400.
