Tried using an eversharp-Schick blade yesterday. Bad news. Two swipes on my face and switched it out for a personna. Very bad.

Yes. A vintage blade. It was kind of hard to load, so maybe something happened to it.

I should really use the B1 more often.Using these earlier Injectors looks a daunting proposition, initial clearance strokes are best kept short as the Razor/ Blade combo is quite harsh. However. after that things settle down and the Shave becomes much smoother but is best not rushed.
At the end of the Shave it is possible to do the essential polishing work needed to get a close Shave, as the Razor is surprisingly forgiving. In fact I find that this oldie delivers a better Shave than most of the modern Injectors confined to use of a single blade.

I love my B1 too. Fantastic razor once you nail down the angle.

Razor: Colonial Razor The General Stainless
    Blade: Feather Pro Guard
Brush Handle: B-400 The Brush by Tom
    Knot: APShaveCo Tuxedo
    Soap: Wholly Kaw Fougere Bouquet
Post Care: Stirling Unscented Witch Hazel,
    Alum
    Aftershave: Wholly Kaw Fougere Bouquet

I had a nice shave this morning. I'm really liking this stainless version of the General. Both the Feather Pro and the Guard work really well in it, I'm having a hard time deciding which I like better. The Wholly Kaw performed nicely however I'm not too sure about the scent. While pleasant it is a little too flowery for me; this one is likely going into the sell pile. I do really like the performance of this soap and aftershave and it did leave my face feeling nourished and refreshed so it's just a matter of finding a scent that I like from them. Have a great day folks!

    Ever-Ready Little Lather Catcher

My prep was just a cold water rinse. The Tabac Shaving Soap face lathered well with Jayaruh #313 mixed 70/30 badger/boar brush. I did two passes with the Ever-Ready Little Lather Catcher razor with a Gem Blue Star SE blade and ended up with a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse, I finished off with Tabac AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Off the puck, John Frum's bold musk is quite reminiscent of PAA's Black Bot which is an homage to vintage Black Belt. This first blush is not to be trusted as the lather takes a very different path. When hit with a wet knot, John Frum opens surprisingly clean with rather forward suggestions of arid, salty, verbena with wafting notes of linen. Before this bright summery citrus peaks, the aforementioned musk steps in, but at very respectful levels and more refined than the punchy 70s musks. Meanwhile, the dry cotton and bitter lemon transition to an intriguing crushed green vegetation contrasted against sandy vetiver stopping just short of earthy. At this point, the shave is nearing its end, but the fragrance seems to have more to offer. This is precisely why I all but insist on matching splashes, but in the case of John Frum, it is absolutely essential to fully realize the intended fragrance. The splash restarts the bright sandy citrus, but it reveals a previously undetected slightly sweet aspect. The musk is omnipresent, yet still controlled, and even elegant. The green is greener, and the vetiver is less vetiver, but I don't know what else to call it. That interesting salty sand element persists as well. After about 15 minutes, a soft, naturally sweet and slightly powdery note slips in. This fragrance is a complex adventure with surprises, but very well blended. There's simply no contemplation necessary for me. John Frum is immediately a personal favorite, so I've already ordered the EdP.

    Williams Wednesday- 27th March

    Simpson Chubby 1 / Maggards 2band
    Williams Mug Soap
    PAL S/S Adjustable
    Schick S/S- Japan [ 3 ]
    Wiliams Aqua Velva A/S Lotion

For some time this PAL and the Streamline were my special occasion Razors. Both guaranteed to give a Top Notch finish without
any problems. Now I have a couple of AC/SE Razors that also fall in this category.
Todays Shave reminded me of its status, as the Shave was so smooth and comfortable with a superb close all round finish. I had it set on a mid setting and kept it like that throughout the Shave.I found that the little Chubby 1 was good at coaxing a lather from the Williams in the Ramekin Dish.
