    March 27 - Williams Wednesday!

Razor - 1924 Ever Ready Shovelhead
Blade - CVS Carbon SE (1)
    Soap - Williams
    Brush - Semogue 620
    Post - Alum

Welcome to another Williams Wednesday! Yep, doing it again as we wrap up the final week of March. Still got the pink scuttle, the CVS Carbon blade, the Williams, of course, and the same Semogue brush. Instead of the Star Lather Catcher, however, I've chosen the Ever Ready 1924 Shovelhead. I won this razor two raffles ago and had no idea what I had picked as the picture was quite small. And, when it arrived, I still had no idea what I had picked as I had never encountered this razor. However, it was quickly identified and a few sung its praises while a few warned of its tendency to bite. Well, after all, it is a vintage SE. Probably the bitiest bunch of razors ever built.

The Williams behaved for me again this week, allowing the small boar brush to whip up a bowl lather suitable for face painting. The lather was very slick, even to the point of having that residual slickness you can do a quick pass over without relathering. The razor is a NOISY beast and my main thought on it was how it feels like it's just the blade on your face. Seriously, a lot of blade exposure that translates to feeling the blade work. You hear it, you feel it, and as you watch it work you realize how much of a sensory experience this razor is.

Two full passes and some touch ups and a near-BBS is in the house. My initial reaction was that it was quite smooth and wouldn't have caused any irritation. Alum proved that theory wrong. My neck was a bit warm following that shave but not as bad as it could have been. Over all a very nice shave.

Back to the salt mines tomorrow for 4 days, then another full week off, followed by.................

    Have a great Thursday!
