March 28, 2019 Wolfman SS with Triad Ti Feather Thäter Boar SdM Captain’s Choice Bay Rum Another busy day today. The big boar whipped up the SdM into a rich slick lather. Three passes and touch ups ended in a near perfect shave. A splash of CC Bay Rum ended a great shave. Already at the office and in the middle of tax returns. I hope everyone has a great Thursday. Duke Cannon BAB Victory BS Neutrogena Men's Face Scrub Proraso PreShave Cream Proraso Shave Cream Semogue Cherry OC Boar Blackland Dart PolSilver Blade Proraso AS One of my favorite combinations of shaving software. The aroma is just mesmerizing (imo). DFS with one WTG pass on the cheeks, 2 pass and a little buffing on the neck. It was the 3rd use of the PolSilver blade (iirc), and definitely felt that way. Could feel it flexing a good bit with the Dart. Caught up reading through everything yesterday...it was a long day. Busy work day and our 10 years young Jack Russell had a few teeth pulled...he's 95% back to normal this morning eating and drinking. Tough as nails and thinks he's a tRex in size. Hope everyone has a great and productive day!
Awesom razor and beautiful pictures. Clint have you figured out how we can get shaving gear off on taxes?
Beautiful picture, Blair! The polished Dart is such a photogenic razor. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
March Focus Wholly Kaw Man From Mayfair~~Morris & Forndran Victorian I~~Ralf Aust 5/8 SR #52 New Soap/AS/Brush in today's line up. You've seen the M&F. It performed as beautifully as I imagined. Incredibly soft tips, yet just enough backbone to work the lather. This is not a scrubby brush in the least. The unusual handle is quite long, allowing for different grips. I think the three rings are exquisite. Wholly Kaw. I have read about it; seen it in SOTD shots, but until this morning, have never tried it. The tallow soap contains Donkey Milk. Why would anyone think of Donkey Milk as an ingredient for shave soap? I can't think of a reason. I can't even say if it made a difference in the lather. Gimmick, maybe... The soap lathered very well, and was slick enough. The scent is supposedly a barbershop scent... Decent enough, but my favorite barbershop scent is still Mike's. This has a powdery finish, also in the aftershave; reminiscent of Floïd Mentolado Vigoroso, albeit without the menthol. The only thing I am going to say about my shave is this. My chin hasn't looked like this since I was smack-dab in the middle of adolescence. Use your imagination.
I'm going to look at Craftsman to see if they have an A.S. to match by Lumberjack soap(from The Soap Exchange). And now I see what would work best-Brushwood. (How's that for going from future tense to current tense in the same post?
Great images as always Clint! Quick question. The chrome container you have for the SdM. Amazon? Or? I've accumulated a few refill pucks that I want to keep....and thinking/searching through a similar solution. Definitely want a lid, stackable, glass or like that one, where I can melt the puck and load a brush. Anyone else have solutions, product recommendations? Thanks all!
Great picture, Joseph! Congrats on the new brush! Wholly Kaw uses water buffalo milk in some of their soaps. A&E uses pork lard and yogurt in their soaps along with donkey milk. Interesting mixes to stand out in a crowded market. Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Thursday morning shave hello everyone. Loaded up one of my favorite razors, a phoenix razor open comb Bakelite that I've used many times. A new feather blade and with some Stirling Barber Shop soap and my cheap little brush I was ready and confident I was going to get a wonderful shave. Right off the bat I got pulling, like a dull blade, trying everything I knew to see what was wrong, I finally switched out blades. The newly-installed blade shaved wonderfully, to my surprise the other new blade was seriously lacking in sharpness. This is the first time I'd ever experienced a dull feather blade right out of the package. I finished off the rest of the shave with a little bit of Stirling After Shave balm and I'm ready for the day. A two pass face and head shave today, was not perfect, but was a good "go to work" shave. To all Enjoy tp
