  1. The 1910 Gem Jr. Bar is one of my favorites. What attention did that beauty need?

  5. The razor was bought on Ebay and I took a chance on it because it was not that much money. The previous owners... had sure put it through it's paces with it was needing a serious cleaning, distorted Top bar for skin tension and blade stops worn thin and 1 gone. So I have repaired the obvious and razor goes into service tomorrow if repairs are satisfactory.
On those old lather catchers folks in those days would let the clasp that is spring loaded snap the back of the blade:rolleyes005: and over time it will shear those blade stops or make them fragile as you already know.(When they get over 100 years old I think you have to be gentler IMO)
  6. Naw, a Hoarder has psychological issues. You are a Shaving Prepper thinking ahead in case there is a Shavepocalypes!

  10. You have repaired it? This isn't the thread for it, but I'm curious how you go about restoring a missing blade stop.

  17. A marketing gimmick. The idea is to keep it flat on the face. Best way to run any of the micromatics.

  18. Yes, apparently (I dont really know much about them). It cleaned up nicely, the pic with the dark background is the after picture. A little Barkeeper's Friend and some 3-in1 oil and it is ready for service. The TTO mechanism has a nice, smooth feel. Plating is worn through in places but not flaking anywhere. I ordered some blades online and will let you know how it shaves later this week.
