Include a Netflix subscription and you've got more channels to watch than time. Instead of a cable box, go HDMI between a computer and the TV. With a external hard drive programs can be saved and portable - better than a DVR. Add a quality wireless mouse and keyboard instead of the remote. You can watch TV, Movies, and open a web browser on the Big Screen like the largest monitor you ever used. It's been my set up for a couple years now since I cut the cable.

Not my favorite soap, but it did show me that I'm better at shaving than a few months ago.

Triple Redundancy is NASA standard for important systems. If rocket scientists practice it, it ought to be good for us land based folks.

I don't see Hallmark in the Hulu+Live TV lineup.

Sling doesn't have Hallmark in either of the basic lineups. But a $5 addon package has 3 different Hallmark channels. Cloud dvr is another $5 addon. The basic Sling orange is $20, and includes ESPN. With the two addons, $30 vs $45 for Hulu.

For local news, just get an antenna and never pay another dime. Probably give you PBS too, without needing Prime.

We use Sling blue here. More channels than orange, for $25. ESPN isn't one if them but that's fine by me. And Prime, and T-Mobile pays for Netflix.
And then all the freebies, like Tubi and Youtube. So basically, it's like hundreds of channels available to watch maybe 5. Just like cable. :)
And a Chromecast to stream it to the tv. You'll really, really, want one of those.

For my fellow watch nuts...Some really cool watches are introduced every spring at Baselworld. This gent makes the trip every year and publishes a photo essay. If you like watches, schnitzel, and/or beer, check it out: http://roleks.se/bas19.htm

    Arko Adjustable April

    April 1

    Razor - 1960 (F4) Gillette Toggle (9)
    Blade - voskhod-teflon-coated.jpg (1)
    Soap - Arko
    Brush - 30DC LE
    Post - Alum

And we're off! The first day of Arko Adjustable April is well underway and it's time for me to settle and get my first shave of the month in. I have to say, being able to load a Voskhod made my heart pitter-patter tonight. It's been a month without Russian steel and, while there are many good choices other than Russian, none is as good in my universe. Obviously I pulled out the Arko and for the first adjustable of the month I chose the Toggle. I am also reunited with my synthetics, so the 30DC Limited Edition got the first call with the Tuxedo knot.

My mug of Arko is rather dry but it didn't take much to get it up and going and an easy load of the brush and lather on the face produced that legendary lather. Easy lather, great two pass shave and touch ups with the Toggle (wide open, of course) and I finished with a near-BBS that has me ready to go for the morning. I have a meeting with my health insurance agent tomorrow to finalize all of that and then I'll be on the mean streets of the Lou putting money in the bank. Spring is definitely starting to show up here - again - and we hope it's permanent this time.

By the way - I want to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone for an outstanding and record breaking March around here. The final count was 7871 posts for the month which is nearly 1000 over the previous record for a month. A small group tried their hardest last night to push to 8000 but fell just short. That's ok. I'm just humbled and amazed at how much goes on around here. One request for the veterans - let's make sure we greet the newbies and help get them off on the right foot! Building technique is still our main focus and it's awesome when I see the new guys come in, get involved, start enjoying their shaves and then they teach the next bunch of newbies. It's what we do! Have a great Tuesday!!
