Thanks Terry! I keep my ARKO in a snap lid container so even though it's not new it still has that bright lemony toilet bowl cleaner scent. No complaints. It is what it is. Done the added AS before with several soaps. Doesn't affect the lather and it increases my enjoyment. Even Fuzzy @wchnu approved of Aqua Velva Ice Blue infused Modern Williams!

  5. Thanks Rick. Yes, he is an inspiration to me and everyone around him.

When you spend time with kids and their families in an intensive care unit, your definition of having a bad day changes. I'm just there a few hours a week, and I'm constantly reminded that all my days are indeed very good and are filled with more blessings that I can count. This gentlemen has role modeled this kind of positive attitude for me every time I see him. Not once have I seen him act any other way.

Good afternoon guys! Just got home from work and just completed my shave! As I previously stated, I will determine my razor on a shave-to-shave basis. Today, I decided to use my Dovo shavette because it has been awhile since I shaved with it. The blade is the Personna hairshaper using the green insert. Decided to continue to use my Semogue badger to face lather Stirling Pacienza soap. My 30 hour stubble wasn't bad, but I wanted to look presentable for my tutoring session this evening. Two passes, two tiny weepers, no irritation and an IBSS. I didn't touchup my neck because I didn't want BBS. It has been awhile since I used the shavette and didn't want to push the envelope. Lol! Overall, it was a very relaxing shave. Finished with Pacienza AS.
    Result: Grade 94 = A

  12. Easy does it James, ride the cap, then give yourself 20 or 30 shaves. You'll be amazed what that razor can do.

  13. Thanks, Jim! My Dovo shavette has sentimental value to me because it was my first introduction to straight shaving. Although I only had 16 shavette shaves before I graduated to traditional straights, the lessons I learned from this razor gave me the confidence to do so! I may be in the minority, but I believe one should first learn to shave with a shavette than a traditional straight. Shavettes are difficult to master because the blades are unforgiving of poor technique.

IMG_1870.jpg Early morning shave, late afternoon post. That has been happening to me with regularity lately.
I'm going to try to get to some too-often-neglected soaps and razors this month. Today was this Sudsy Soapery soft soap. I get a good lather from it, and the scent is a very earthy, menthol type scent. I'm kind of meh about it, I suppose. Decent performer, though.
I don't know how it has been a few months since I used this beauty of a New Improved, but it has. Probably my favourite looking razor, but a hair behind the NEW LC or SC for shaving enjoyment. Had an nice irritation-free 3 pass shave which left me a little short of totally smooth on my neck. A good start to a long day.

    Have a great evening, all!
  18. Pretty picture and great shave, Jason. That is a good looking razor.
