tuesday night shave, went on a blue thing today..started by loading a fresh gsb in my mint birthyear m-4 slim..went euro and lathered the nivea blue cream in the stonefield shaving bowl, got an excellent dfs+shave in 2 combination passes with minor pick ups..finished with nivea blue aftershave and zippo edt..the blue tin is an expo 67 ashtray i think..looks cool..no reason for a 1967 thing ,just a nice shave, have a great wednesday.. 20190402_210842.jpg

I finally got it together for my April Adjustable focus on the Ultimate Adjustable Focus R21.

Third shave on GSB. - I'm noticing a slight fall off in keeness since new but should be good to keep going. I resisted 'turning it up' like I tried when the Lab Blue got me.

Stirling stuff rocks, nuff said. I love Tuscany, it is said to be a unisex scent and I can see that, just really love the smell. Max Headroom approved!

I saw some earlier discussion with @Trigger and @RyX on shavettes vs straights. FWIW I'm glad I went straights first 'because' they are more forgiving. On the other hand just a couple of shaves in and I have the opinion that a shavette is delivering closer shaves than the straights. I won't abandon my straights, I think the audible feedback calls me.

My tuff to get area with an open blade is to the sides of my chin, on the upper neck, right below the jaw. Simple enough to go side to center ATG with a safety. I just don't have a comfortable way to do it with an open blade instrument.

I have resorted to n/s and s/n passes while stretching from over the head with the off hand. I only 'alum-up' the fingertips for the last pass because I would have a tendency to loose control over where alum winds up.

I actually find the R21 shavette to deliver results using the pattern above second only to the Focus R48 Dynamic, but I do believe that the R21 can equal or best it with more practice.

    Great shave, I'm happy.

Thanks. The problem with a Rule is that, if everything is working well so there are no issues to analyse, you run out of things to say...

I'll be mixing in adjustables and hitting up Arko occasionally. I'll have good intentions of posting regularly. Those good intentions will give way to family busyness, and I'll fail magnificently in my posting prowess. Travel basketball, dance classes and college (for my kids), hours spent lanquishing away in car lines and working around all of it will get in my way. I'll feel some guilt, but it will be out weighed by a sense of responsibility to my family and made easier by knowing I'm doing what is best for them and by often enjoying it. I'll not shave as often as I'd like, but that's ok. I'll lurk and enjoy your photos and long to engage, feel the stubble from three days of choosing sleep over shaving, and just enjoy the show.

Williams Wednesday with an adjustable. Not a bad way to start a day shift! The shave stick is a homemade one with modern Williams. 20190403_031949.jpg

    Williams Wednesday

    Good morning!

Excellent shave to start the day! Three passes for near BBS with the faintest hint of warmth from the alum.

First use of Williams. I decided to hold the puck in hand and load over the top of my CC soup bowl. I left too much water in the brush. What I had was thin and airy. So the obvious answer, load more soap. I squeezed out the brush into the soup bowl and went back to the puck. Mixed the fresh load of soap in with the airy stuff in the bowl Problem solved. Satisfactory lather achieved. No problems with it dissipating.

    Have a great day!

    SOTD April 3, 2019

Prep: Cold water and Stirling mentholated pre-shave soap
    Blade: Personna
    Razor: Personna injector
Brush: Ever Ready 100T restored badger
    Soap: C.O. Bigelow
Post: Witch hazel, RazoRock Blue Barbershop aftershave

Easy shave with this setup. I'll use the Bigelow through tomorrow and then switch to The Fat for Friday. I enjoy using the same soap or cream several days in a row. Just leave it out on the counter with nothing to decide. Makes it easy, and Bigelow makes shaving easy with great lather that is slick with nice post-shave feel. I know that Bigelow is just Proraso cream so it should be good.

    Have a great day!
